The incidence, presentation, and macroscopic and histological features of secondary solid neoplasms of the prostate gland are described with reference to their differential diagnoses. A continuous series of autopsy and surgical cases from the Royal London Hospital from 1907 to the present yielded a total of 51 secondary neoplasms involving the prostate: 24 at post-mortem examination and 27 surgical specimens. BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: Opioid use disorder is an evolving crisis, and 17.2% of postsurgical patients continue to fill an opioid prescription one year after surgery. Preclinical studies suggest perioperative opioid use, defined here as opioids used in the setting of operative pain, may be linked to inferior oncologic outcomes. If this were true, opioid minimization strategies for surgical patients may reduce opioid-related deaths in more than one way. Acinic cell carcinoma of the breast is an uncommon neoplasm. Since the first case of this rare variant of breast carcinoma was reported in 1996, only 10 cases have been reported in the English-language literature. Metastasis of a maternal neoplasm to the products of conception is extremely rare. Of the 54 reported cases in the world literature, only 14 (25%) showed fetal metastasis. More than 50% of the reported cases were not examined grossly or had no visually apparent tumor deposits. Malignant melanoma is the most common malignant maternal neoplasm to metastasize to the products of conception. We report three unusual maternal malignant neoplasms (one pancreatic and two breast cancer) with evidence of placental metastasis and discuss the risk factors for fetal involvement in these cases.
