A case of polycystic kidneys associated with a sarcomatoid variant of renal cell carcinoma is reported. The patient presented with hilar lymphadenopathy, para-aortic lymph node enlargement with an abnormal lymphangiogram and splenomegaly. Biopsy of the hilar lymph node, para-aortic lymph node and spleen showed reactive hyperplasia only but biopsy of the left kidney, liver and mesentery revealed poorly differentiated renal cell carcinoma with sarcomatous changes.

Two cases of T-cell chronic lymphoid leukaemia in adults were classified by recently developed immunological methods. Clinically there was splenomegaly, hepatomegaly, marked anaemia, para-aortic lymph nodes, cutaneous infiltration, little peripheral lymph-node enlargement and significant marrow infiltration. Immunological tests of membrane antigens revealed T-cell determinants. T-CLL may differ in its course and prognosis from B-CLL and may require different treatment.

BACKGROUND: The aim of this study was to evaluate the value of follow-up investigations of T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL) and T-cell non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (T-NHL), including cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) examination, bone marrow (BM) aspiration, peripheral blood (PB) count, serum lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) and chest X-rays in patients with an initial mediastinal enlargement.
PROCEDURE: We reviewed clinical records of all T-ALL patients from 1987 to 2002 and all T-NHL patients from 1977 to 2002, seen at a single institution.

OBJECTIVE: To assess the frequency and the consequences of cervical stenosis in patients treated by laser conization or loop electrosurgical excision procedure (LEEP) and to analyse the results of cervical enlargement plastic surgery or neostomia.
METHODS: Two hundred and fifty-five women treated by laser conization and 277 by LEEP were regularly followed by postoperative colposcopy, for a mean period of 38 and 16 months, respectively. Stenosis was defined as cervical narrowing which could not admit a 2.5 mm-diameter Hegar's dilator.
