A 22-year-old female diagnosed with anorexia nervosa received brief psychotherapy within a span of 1.5 months. Detailed cognitive-behavioral assessment was done and eating attitude was rated. Intervention of eating behavior and cognitive restructuring were initiated along with regular practice of self-hypnosis with ego-strengthening suggestions. Age regression was done to identify conflicts. Significant improvement in eating attitude was noted after 8 sessions without relapse at 3 months. Details of the psychotherapy are discussed.

Research on predicting aggressive or hostile behavior from the Rorschach was reviewed. This overview suggested that the propensity for acting aggressively or in a hostile manner seemed less related to the quantity or quality of aggressive content than to indicators of impoverished control, e.g., CF+C > FC, F + % < 70, what some Rorschachers refer to as 'ego control.' However, methodological issues in the research on content which could have compromised these results were also discussed as was the kind of research still needed.

Dysmorphophobia shall be described as an example for a communicative disorder and be deliminated from other syndromes under which it has been subsumed so far. On the background of available literature, the "fear of deformity" is to be elaborated as feeling ashamed of the contemptuous look of another person, whose look has turned into the own view. This results in a discrepancy with the ego and the own self conveyed by others, finally leading to depersonalisation. This report is intended to focus attention on the often occurring, but seldom reported, subungual exostosis. Familiarity with its clinical characteristics should enable the physician to make a preoperative diagnosis or at least include it in the differential diagnosis of any subungual growth. Establishing the practice of x-raying all subungual tumors may save the physician's ego from the trauma of a missed diagnosis. More importantly, however, it may save the patient from unnecessary and at times even unnecessarily drastic surgery.
