Idiopathic gingival fibromatosis is a rare condition characterized by a generalized enlargement of the buccal and lingual aspects of the attached and marginal gingiva. This report addresses the diagnosis and treatment of a case of idiopathic gingival fibromatosis in a 27-year-old male. The patient presented with gingival enlargement involving the maxillary and mandibular arches, deep bite, generalized malpositioning of teeth, and difficulty in speech and mastication. In 6 pigs a bronchoscopical resection of the tracheal mucosa was performed using CO2-laser on one side, and an electric high-frequency cutting loop (ECL) on the other. Tuberous sclerosis is a rare genetic disease with autosomal dominant inheritance, associated with multiple hamartomas in several organs, such as the brain, skin, lung, kidney, heart and eyes. The authors of this study report a case of a 30 years old female patient with tuberous sclerosis, presenting multiple angiofibromas on face treated with high frequency equipment (radiofrequency), and discuss the therapeutic options for treatment of individuals with extensive cutaneous involvement in tuberous sclerosis.

A 55-year-old woman presented with wheezing and difficulty breathing. Chest computed tomography demonstrated a tumor in the left main bronchus. Flexible fiber-optic bronchoscopy revealed a polypoid mass obstructing the orifice of the left main bronchus. Biopsy specimens were consistent with hamartoma; therefore endoscopic resection was selected as treatment. High-frequency electrosurgical snaring and a semiconductor laser with electrocautery therapy were used to completely excise the tumor. OBJECTIVE: We conducted a retrospective study to evaluate the influence of amount of energy delivered during radiofrequency procedure for soft palate reduction in snoring, to improve the cure rate.
METHODS: Consecutive patients with chronic disruptive snoring presenting to our department were successively treated in an outpatient procedure. A visual analog scale was used to assess the severity of snoring by the bed partner and the pain by the patient, before treatment and after each treatment session. The soft palate was divided into 3 treatment sites: middle, lateral right, and lateral left.

BACKGROUND: Rhinophyma is the end stage of rosacea, affecting almost exclusively male patients, characterized by a progressive deformity in nasal shape. Depending on the extent of the deformity, rhinophyma may distort the appearance of those affected and patients may become psychosocially disabled.
