UNLABELLED: Steenbeek foot abduction brace (SFAB) is an essential orthotic for maintaining correction in congenital talipes equinovarus treated with Ponseti method. As the brace is used up to 3 to 4 years of age, we examined the brace wear pattern according to a child's development and age. We studied 100 SFABs that were rendered unusable or returned by parents due to advanced brace wear. SFABs returned due to other reasons such as foot outgrowing shoe size were excluded. BACKGROUND: Catheter-based balloon dilation of the sinus ostia follows the general guidelines for functional endoscopic sinus surgery with the goal of reopening the sinus ostium to restore ventilation and drainage of the sinus and reestablish normal mucosal function, while maintaining normal mucosal tissue and avoiding scar tissue formation. A main criticism of this procedure questions the necessity of fluoroscopy with the C-arm since its use exposes patients and medical personnel to radiation and the C-arm is not available in every ENT operating room.

We describe a simple terahertz (THz) time domain spectrometer with a bandwidth extending up to 7.5 THz. We show that by keeping the generation and detection crystals close to each other a high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) can be achieved without using lock-in detection and dry nitrogen flushing. The observed spectra show very good agreement with the spectra calculated based on a simple model which includes phase matching and absorption in the generation and detection crystals. We propose and demonstrate weak-microcavity organic light-emitting diode (OLED) displays with improved light-extraction and viewing-angle characteristics. A single pair of low- and high-index layers is inserted between indium tin oxide (ITO) and a glass substrate.
