CONTEXT: The request process for eye and tissue donation is different from the process that families of organ donors experience, but the research into eye/tissue-only decision making has been sparse.

PURPOSE: To report changing trends in indications and techniques of corneal transplantation in Iran.
METHODS: We reviewed eye bank records of 47,129 patients who had undergone corneal transplantation between 2006 and 2013 at different eye centers throughout Iran.

Intramembrane changes occurring in dysfunctional corneal endothelial cell membranes were examined using freeze-fracture and transmission electron microscopy techniques.
