Gastritis cystica and carcinoma developed 35 years after partial gastectomy and gastrojejunostomy for benign peptic ulcer. Although chronic atrophic gastritis and carcinoma are well recognized complications of gastrojejunostomy, gastritis cystica appears to be rare. The resemblance of the lesion to that of colitis cystica profunda is striking.

BACKGROUND/AIMS: Advanced stomach or pancreas cancer with antral obstruction has been treated by gastrojejunostomy. The delayed return of gastric emptying, however, frequently occurs. The Devine exclusion procedure has been reported to be the better bypass operation in terms of oral intake, but it needs a drainage tube. The afferent loop syndromes result from obstruction to the afferent jejunal loop. Acute ALS results from complete obstruction, usually occurs early after surgery and runs a devastatingly lethal course unless promptly treated by reoperation. We report a case of laparoscopic gastrectomy for gastric cancer with an anomalous celiac trunk categorized as Type Ⅵ- Group 24 in the Adachi classification.
