Technetium-99m (99mTc)-pertechnetate can be taken up by both gastric mucosa and thyroid tissue. Ectopic gastric mucosa of upper esophagus found in thyroid scintigraphy is rare. We reported a 31-year-old woman who underwent 99mTc-pertechnetate thyroid static scintigraphy for abnormal ultrasound findings. A focal uptake lesion was found in her upper chest. UNLABELLED: Gastroscopic and gastric juice analysis studies were carried out on 12 patients with total body surface area over 30 percent who received early enteral feeding, supplemented with glutamine. The results indicated that early feeding was safe in major burn patients. All patients were found to have ASML on postburn days 1 to 2. Stress ulcer was not found in patients after several excision operations, and about 86 percent of ASML disappeared within about 2 weeks.

BACKGROUND: Difficulty with visualization and targeting of lesions to obtain biopsy specimens or for endoscopic treatment during diagnostic and therapeutic EGD may be due to a tangential approach, endoscope tip instability, or close proximity to the lesion resulting in a "red-out." Cap-fitted EGD (CF-EGD) adds a "tactile" dimension and enhances visualization and targeting of lesions by allowing manipulation of tangential sites to a more "en-face" approach, thereby improving tip stability and maintaining close apposition to the lesion without losing the endoscopic view.

In a review of 125 percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomies (PEG) and 88 Stamm gastrostomies performed at Duke University Medical Center since 1978, the average operating room time for PEG (50 +/- 20 min) was shorter than for Stamm (96 +/- 26 min) (p less than 0.0001). RATIONALE: Heterotopic pancreas is a pancreatic tissue that occurs outside the normal anatomical site, the most common site is antrum. Due to the lack of specific imaging and endoscopic signs, heterotopic pancreas especially those occurring in the rare site, are often misdiagnosed, and leading to unnecessary surgical treatment. Endoscopic incisional biopsy and endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration are effective means for diagnosing heterotopic pancreas. We reports a case of extensive heterotopic pancreas in a rare site, which was finally diagnosed by this way.

A series of 417 endoscopic brush cytology-multiple biopsy specimens from 220 patients with clinically suspected gastritis was studied, with a 6-year follow-up, to find out whether brush cytology and histology combined provided better results than histology alone, in the endoscopic diagnosis of benign gastric ulcer.
