Factors associated with quality of life for cystic fibrosis family caregivers.

Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is a genetic and chronic disease affecting 32,100 people in the United States as of 2021, with a life expectancy of 56 years for people with CF (PwCF) born between 2018 and 2022. While there is extensive literature about cystic fibrosis, there are few studies examining the complexity and challenges experienced by family caregivers for PwCF. The aim of this study was to examine the Caregiver Quality of Life Cystic Fibrosis (CQOLCF) scale using data (N = 217) from two separate studies that used the scale to determine if its items represent multiple factors relevant to CF fam

Do Prisoners With Reintegration Needs Receive Relevant Professional Assistance?

Ex-prisoners often experience barriers to successful transition regarding employment, finances, housing, healthcare, and valid identification. Based on the Offender Management framework, assistance during imprisonment by prison- and community-based professionals is considered key in preparing prisoners for release regarding these reintegration needs. Therefore, the current study examines the degree to which prisoners with reintegration needs are assisted by relevant professionals. We used self-reported data from 4,309 prisoners of the Dutch Prison Visitation Study, part of the Life in Custody

Beyond Efficacy: Policy, Delivery, and Equity Determinants of Long-Acting Monoclonal Antibody Uptake for Infant RSV Prevention-A WAidid Consensus Document.

Background: Long-acting monoclonal antibodies have become an important strategy for preventing respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) disease in infants. Nirsevimab is the first product for which substantial post-licensure implementation data are available, whereas real-world evidence on clesrovimab remains limited. Although nirsevimab has demonstrated high efficacy, its uptake varies considerably across countries, healthcare systems, delivery settings, and population subgroups. This World Association for Infectious Diseases and Immunological Disorders (WAidid) consensus document examines the polic

The Spanish long-term care system reaches majority of age: A narrative review of evidence and lessons obtained.

BACKGROUND: Spain has one of the highest life expectancies at 65-years-old among OECD countries, yet only half of these years are expected to be in good health. Thus, many older people require support for carrying out activities of daily living. In response, the Spanish government established the Spanish long-term care (LTC) system in 2007. OBJECTIVE: To review the published evidence from the analysis of the first 18 years of existence of the system. METHODS: This study adopts a narrative literature review approach, drawing from academic and policy-oriented research on the Spanish LTC system

Closing the gap between implementation science and policy in Nigeria: lessons from the Nigeria implementation science alliance using a nominal group technique.

INTRODUCTION: Knowledge translation in healthcare has been of keen interest to researchers, practitioners, policymakers and administrators as it seeks to confront complex health issues within communities by closing the gap between knowledge generation through research and knowledge application. A paucity of information exists regarding nature of the relationship between Nigerian implementation science researchers and policymakers in the sphere of knowledge translation. This study aimed to identify and discuss barriers to successful engagement between implementation researchers and policymakers

Impact of results-based financing on effective obstetric care coverage: evidence from a quasi-experimental study in Malawi.

BACKGROUND: Results-based financing (RBF) describes health system approaches addressing both service quality and use. Effective coverage is a metric measuring progress towards universal health coverage (UHC). Although considered a means towards achieving UHC in settings with weak health financing modalities, the impact of RBF on effective coverage has not been explicitly studied. METHODS: Malawi introduced the Results-Based Financing For Maternal and Neonatal Health (RBF4MNH) Initiative in 2013 to improve quality of maternal and newborn health services at emergency obstetric care facilities.

Paying for hospital-based care of Kala-azar in Nepal: assessing catastrophic, impoverishment and economic consequences.

Households obtaining health care services in developing countries incur substantial costs, despite services generally being provided free of charge by public health institutions. This constitutes an economic burden on low-income households, and contributes to deepening their level of poverty. In addition to the economic burden of obtaining health care, the method of financing these payments has implications for the distribution of household assets. This effect on resource-poor households is amplified since they have decreased access to health insurance. Recent literature, however, ignores the

UK healthcare professionals' uncertainties, barriers and facilitators to the introduction of targeted human papillomavirus vaccination for men who have sex with men.

BACKGROUND: Female-only human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination will fail to protect men who have sex with men (MSM) against HPV and its sequelae (i.e. genital warts and anal cancers). In the absence of gender-neutral HPV vaccination, targeted vaccination at sexual health clinics for MSM offers a valuable preventive opportunity. This study aimed to identify sexual healthcare professionals' (HCPs) perceived barriers and facilitators for MSM-targeted HPV vaccination. METHODS: Nineteen telephone interviews with UK-based self-referred HCPs (13 doctors, three nurses, three health advisers) were con

Not Every Country Can Absorb a Shock: Unequal Capacity to Withstand World Health Organization Aid Cuts.

External health aid is contracting sharply, and this moment is often framed as a stress test of health system resilience. This perspective argues that it is equally a stress test of global health ethics and governance: When external actors withdraw from essential services, they are not merely responding to fiscal constraints-they are shaping who loses care. In 2025, the World Health Organization (WHO) projected a 30%-40% decline in external health aid to low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) and urged governments to protect essential services, integrate programs into primary healthcare, and
