Differential Effects of Breed and Nursing on Early-Life Colonic Microbiota and Immune Status as Revealed in a Cross-Fostering Piglet Model.

Nursing mother and breed can differently regulate early-life microbiota succession in pigs. However, it remains unclear whether they affect gastrointestinal microbiota and immune status, which are critical for early-life gut health. Here, an interspecific cross-fostering piglet model was employed by fostering neonatal Yorkshire and Meishan piglets to the same or another breed of sows. Jejunal and colonic microbiotas and mucosal immune parameters were analyzed at postnatal days 14 (preweaning) and 49 (postweaning). Nursing mother affected 10 genera in the colon and 3 minor genera in the jejunum

Closing the gap or transforming the crisis? A qualitative study on the mentoring model as a sustainable solution to instructor shortage in surgical nursing education.

BACKGROUND: Pressures on the global nursing education workforce and a growing shortage of clinical educators in surgical settings have placed preceptorship models at the heart of education. Viewing nursing education as a "revenue-generating commodity" raises concerns regarding the erosion of academic identity and the risk of disciplinary expertise being reduced to a technical craft. AIM: This study aimed to describe the effects of the mentorship model in surgical nursing education on academic identity, pedagogical processes, and workforce sustainability, based on the perceptions of academicia

Identification of risk factors and development of a multivariable prognostic prediction model for incontinence-associated dermatitis in older nursing home residents.

Incontinence-associated dermatitis (IAD) is an inflammatory skin condition caused by prolonged exposure of the skin to urine and feces. It is common among older adults in long-term care and contributes to pain, discomfort, and increased risk for secondary infection. This study aimed to identify risk factors for IAD development and to construct a prognostic model for incontinent nursing home residents aged ≥ 65 years. A secondary analysis was conducted using data from a cluster-randomized controlled clinical trial performed in Berlin, Germany (April 2019 to June 2021). A total of 149 incontinen
