BACKGROUND: Choriocarcinoma within an ovarian carcinoma is exceptionally rare. Nevertheless, recognition of this mixed tumour is important for administration of appropriate chemotherapy.
CASE: A 65-year-old woman underwent resection of an ovarian mass after presenting with a pelvic mass and breast tenderness. On pathologic examination the mass showed a choriocarcinoma in association with a serous carcinoma. This pathologic diagnosis led to a specific chemotherapy regimen with cisplatin, etoposide, and bleomycin, suitable for both types of malignancy.

A 62-year-old patient treated for 9 years with hydroxyurea for chronic myeloproliferative disease developed multiple cutaneous neoplasms. Hydroxyurea minimizes DNA synthesis via inhibition of the enzyme ribonucleotide reductase and is used to treat hematological malignancies. The most important and severe side-effect is a dose-dependent myelodepression. An association with multiple skin tumors has been reported. The presented case emphasizes this potential risk of hydroxyurea therapy. Continuous dermatologic monitoring of patients treated with hydroxyurea is recommended.

The simultaneous occurrence of ameloblastomas with odontogenic cysts or other non-odontogenic lesions have already been described as combined lesions. However, we are unaware of any report in the English literature of simultaneous occurrence of ameloblastoma and orthokeratinized odontogenic cyst (OOC) occurring as completely distinct lesions. Primary epididymal leiomyoma is relatively rare. We experienced a case of bilateral simultaneous primary epididymal leiomyoma. A 61-year-old man visited our clinic, with the chief complaint of bilateral painless nodules in the scrotum. Each nodule was palpated at the tail of each epididymis (the diameters of these nodules were 12 mm on left and 5 mm on right). We followed the patient for 18 months. Since the nodules were increasing in size, the nodules were surgically removed. Histological examination revealed primary leiomyomas of the epididymis.

We describe herein a 29-year-old patient who was recognized as having a xeroderma pigmentosum variant or pigmented xerodermoid in the early adult life since sunlight sensitivity caused degenerative changes in the skin and cutaneous carcinomas. Glomangiomas, or multiple glomus tumors, occur in disseminated, localized, or congenital plaquelike forms. The first two cases of congenital plaquelike glomangioma were described in 1990. We report a 9-year-old girl with a congenital, violaceous, 75-cm2 indurated plaque of the left abdomen that showed the classic histologic findings of glomangioma. A 66-year-old man came to our hospital because of hemoptysis and fever. Chest radiograph and CT scan showed a large circumscribed shadow in the posterior segment of the right upper lobe. Bronchoscopy revealed bronchial compression and stenosis. OBJECTIVES: To evaluate the efficacy of surgical treatment of angiomyolipoma.
METHODS: We present a case of multiple, bilateral renal angiomyolipoma in a patient with tuberous sclerosis, who was treated by conservative surgery.
RESULTS: The patient is clinically asymptomatic one year after surgery and both kidneys are functioning correctly as shown by pyelography.
CONCLUSIONS: We recommend conservative surgical treatment of symptomatic or developing angiomyolipomas.

We reported a pediatric case of double mediastinal tumors. A 7-year-old girl was admitted to our hospital as the abnormal shadows were pointed out on her chest x-ray film. CT scan and MRI suggested the existence of double tumors located at the anterior and middle mediastinum. Both tumors and thymus were removed. Histological diagnosis of one tumor was teratoma of the anterior mediastinum and another was bronchogenic cyst of the middle mediastinum respectively. Pertinent literatures were reviewed.

Twenty-eight (1.69%) cases of primary synchronous bilateral breast cancer (PSBC) out of 1,654 new cases were studied. PSBC compared with unilateral cases had a significantly higher (p less than 0.001) first degree family history of breast cancer; high frequency of subareolar location; no predominance of lobular and non-invasive types; no significantly different percentage of pathological stage I presentation. As there is no complete agreement on what constitutes a PSBC, studies should be carried out to formulate a more precise definition of this entity.

A surgical case of prolactinoma associated with craniopharyngioma is reported. A 47-year-old man was admitted to some neurosurgical clinic on October 12, 1982, because of visual disturbance, general fatigue and impotence. Laboratory study revealed hyperprolactinemia (360 ng/ml) and slight enlargement of sella turcica indicated the pituitary adenoma. Abdominal sonic scanning revealed two irregular, circular masses with light central reflexes followed by an acoustic shadowing effect.
