OBJECTIVE: This clinically oriented article aims to describe specific situations of root resorption, whether suspected or confirmed, and to provide a focused analysis.
MATERIALS AND METHOD: Eight clinical cases are presented in different contexts: presence of presumptive signs of root resorption, pre-existing resorption prior to treatment, and resorption occurring during treatment, among others.
DISCUSSION: The integration of these resorptions when developing the treatment plan and the medico-legal aspect associated with this issue must be taken into consideration. Although this article does

OBJECTIVE: To review the available evidence on temporomandibular joint morphological changes after orthodontic treatment with clear aligners, as assessed using CBCT scans.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: This review sought randomized clinical trials, controlled or comparative clinical trials, and retrospective cohort studies. The primary outcomes were condylar position and joint spaces, and the secondary outcomes were condylar dimensions and inclination, and mandibular fossa dimensions. MEDLINE (via PubMed), Scopus, Web of Science, ProQuest, and the Clinical Trials Registration and the WHO Internation

INTRODUCTION: Modern facial rejuvenation can no longer be limited to the "facelift": Perceived age is strongly influenced by the smile, incisor display, lip support, and the proportions of the lower third of the face. These parameters are shaped by orthodontics (especially clear aligners) as much as by aesthetic surgery. What are the orthodontic determinants of facial rejuvenation (smile/perioral region/lower third), and how can they be integrated into a surgical or medical-aesthetic rejuvenation strategy?
OBJECTIVE: The objective of this article is to propose a practical decision-making algo

Patients with periodontal disease often require combined periodontal-orthodontic interventions to restore periodontal health, function, and aesthetics, ensuring both patient satisfaction and long-term stability. Managing these patients involving orthodontic tooth movement can be particularly challenging due to compromised periodontal soft and hard tissues, especially in severe cases. Therefore, close collaboration between orthodontists and periodontists for comprehensive diagnosis and sequential treatment, along with diligent patient compliance throughout the entire process, is crucial for ach

The prevalence of Class III malocclusion varies among different countries and regions. The populations from Southeast Asian countries (Chinese and Malaysian) showed the highest prevalence rate of 15.8%, which can seriously affect oral function, facial appearance, and mental health. As anterior crossbite tends to worsen with growth, early orthodontic treatment can harness growth potential to normalize maxillofacial development or reduce skeletal malformation severity, thereby reducing the difficulty and shortening the treatment cycle of later-stage treatment. This is beneficial for the physical

Protrusive facial deformities, characterized by the forward displacement of the teeth and/or jaws beyond the normal range, affect a considerable portion of the population. The manifestations and morphological mechanisms of protrusive facial deformities are complex and diverse, requiring orthodontists to possess a high level of theoretical knowledge and practical experience in the relevant orthodontic field. To further optimize the correction of protrusive facial deformities, this consensus proposes that the morphological mechanisms and diagnosis of protrusive facial deformities should be analy

This article explores the intersection of various systemic conditions with orthodontic treatment. Renal diseases, including chronic kidney disease and renal transplant, present challenges such as delayed tooth eruption and gingival overgrowth, necessitating careful orthodontic planning and collaboration with physicians. Liver diseases, particularly hepatitis, heighten the risk of periodontal disease and mandate strict infection control measures during orthodontic procedures. Ehlers-Danlos syndrome poses challenges related to collagen fragility, rapid tooth movement, and orthodontic relapse. Au

OBJECTIVES: The objective of this literature review is to investigate whether the gender of patients and practitioners makes any difference to orthodontic treatment.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: Sixty-nine articles were selected, the vast majority of which studied patient gender.
RESULTS: Young females are the category of patients which most often apply for orthodontic treatment, probably because of their higher aesthetic demands, despite their objective needs being no greater. Aesthetic, skeletal and dental analyses reveal an obvious dimorphism with larger dimensions in males, especially for the
