Isolated nitrogenase cofactors can reduce CO, CN-, and CO2 to short-chain hydrocarbons in reactions driven by a strong reductant. Here, we use activity analyses and isotope labeling experiments to show that formaldehyde and acetaldehydes can be reduced as-is or reductively condensed into alkanes and alkenes by the isolated cofactor of Mo-nitrogenase in the presence of EuII-diethylenetriamine pentaacetate (DTPA). PURPOSE: The aim of this work was to automate the radiosynthesis of [(18)F]SFB, a widely used reagent for the labeling of biomolecules with (18)F on a new generation commercial synthesis module (FASTLab™, GE Healthcare).

BACKGROUND: Red blood cells (RBCs) can be labeled with N-hydroxysuccinimidobiotin (sulfo-NHS-biotin), which binds to cell surface proteins under aqueous conditions. Biotinylated RBCs can be safely infused and detected in peripheral blood samples using flow cytometry, using a fluorochrome-conjugated streptavidin (SA) detection reagent.
