Thirty-seven days after successful embryo transfer, a chorionic vesicle was recovered from the upper abdominal retroperitoneal space in a patient presenting with an acute life-threatening hemorrhage. This is the first case report of a retroperitoneal ectopic pregnancy which, although uncommon, is a potentially fatal complication of in vitro fertilization-embryo transfer.

Chyluria is a rare condition characterized by the presence of milky urine caused by lymphatic leakage into the urinary tract. A 78-year-old man presented with milky urine and was found to have 3+proteinuria on urinalysis. Although contrast-enhanced CT revealed no abnormalities, lymphangiography followed by non-contrast CT demonstrated lymphatic leakage communicating with the right renal pelvis. Conservative management with a low-fat diet failed to improve his symptoms. Posterior retroperitoneoscopic adrenalectomy has recently increased in popularity and currently adopted in about 20% of referral centers. It may provide more direct access to the adrenals, thus avoiding post-operative adhesions and the need for patient repositioning in bilateral adrenalectomy. Although it has been suggested to be feasible for large tumors, large tumor size is indicated as the main limitation of PRA, mainly because of the small space available for dissection.

A case report of a 23-year-old patient with abdominal pain was found to have a bilateral, retroperitoneal localized form of Castleman disease. To the best of our knowledge, it is the first report of a bilateral form described in the literature. Surgical excision resulted in the disappearance of symptoms and both masses were found to be of the hyaline type. Follow-up computerized tomography revealed no pathological sequelae.

A case of Castleman's disease localized in the retroperitoneal space is reported. A 29-year-old patient had a mass 15 cm in diameter with radial calcification. After surgical resection, both the patient's anemia and hypergammaglobulinemia disappeared. Castleman's disease should be considered when facing a solid retroperitoneal or mesenteric mass, mainly if anemia and hypergammaglobulinemia are present. Previous reports about this unusual condition are reviewed.

Retroperitoneal xanthofibrogranulomatosis has so far been reported less than 50 times in the world literature. It has not been classified with retroperitoneal fibrosis or neoplasia. The clinical, radiological and histological features, and the problems of diagnosis, are discussed with reference to another case.
