The title compound, [Sn(C(6)H(5))(3)(C(9)H(10)NS(2))], has two independent mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit and each features a tetra-hedrally coordinated Sn(IV) atom as the dithio-carbamate ligand coordinates in a monodentate fashion. As the non-coordinating thione S atom is proximate to the Sn atom [Sn⋯S(thione) = 3.1477 (6) and 2.9970 (5) Å for the independent mol-ecules], distortions from the ideal geometry are evident [the widest angle being 120.48 (5)°]. The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Sn(C(6)H(5))(2)(C(2)H(3)O(2))(2)(C(5)H(5)N)], contains two crystallography independent mol-ecules. In both mol-ecules, the Sn(IV) atom is seven-coordinated in a distorted penta-gonal-bipyramidal geometry with the two phenyl groups in axial positions. The two mol-ecules differ mainly in the torsion of the phenyl and pyridine rings. In the title polymeric coordination compound, [Sn(CH(3))(3)(C(7)H(3)F(2)O(2))](n), the Sn atom exhibits a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal coordination geometry with the carboxyl-ate O atoms in the axial positions and the equatorial positions occupied by the methyl groups. Three novel aluminum-containing tin(IV) heterobimetallic sulfides are reported. The reaction of [LAl(SLi)2(THF)2]2 (1) [L = HC(CMeNAr)2, Ar = 2,6-iPr2C6H3] with Ph2SnCl2, Me2SnCl2, and SnCl4 in THF respectively afforded LAl(mu-S)2SnPh2 (2), LAl(mu-S)2SnMe2 (3), and LAl(mu-S)2Sn(mu-S)2AlL (4) in moderate yields. Compounds 2, 3, and 4 were characterized by elemental analysis, NMR, electron-impact mass spectrometry, and single-crystal X-ray structural analysis.

Alumina reinforced dental porcelain has been coated directly with tin oxide by reactive ion plating. Samples were prepared at different distances from the tin source in the ion plating rig. Tensile bond strengths of treated and untreated porcelain discs to a commercially available phosphate-methacrylate based dental cement were determined.
