The connections between elastic tissue and microvessels (arterioles, capillaries, and venules) in the rabbit eye were examined by light and electron microscopy. Chronic nongranulomatous uveitis associated with JRA, a distinctive clinical entity occurring almost exclusively in the pediatric age group, represents an important cause of visual impairment in children. Despite continuing clarification of the clinical manifestations of this disorder, the etiology of uveitis associated with JRA remains unknown and the pathophysiology is still poorly understood. Further study of uveitis-associated JRA, by the application of improved immunologic theories and techniques, should aid in developing more effective therapeutic and preventive strategies.

Cyclodialysis was performed in both eyes of five cynomolgus monkeys. Two days later the intraocular pressure (IOP) had fallen from 17.7 +/- 0.8 to 7.1 +/- 1.4 mm Hg (P less than 0.001). Lymphoid malignancies may affect the eye either as primary intraocular lymphomas (PIOL), or by secondary involvement of a nodal lymphoma. The authors present their experiences with the microsurgical method of therapy of choroidal malignant melanoma. During the last two years 10 patients have been admitted to the hospital that had malignant melanoma of uvea, eight of them had choroidal melanoma. In a survey of 26,512 children under 12 years of age, 2 cases (0.075%) were found to have congenital intraocular coloboma. Among 193 cases of the disease from 169 families reported by 50 hospitals of 21 provinces and cities, the disease affected boys more than girls.
