Point-of-care vaccinators' perceptions of vaccine hesitancy drivers: A qualitative study from the cape metropolitan district, South Africa.

BACKGROUND: Vaccination coverage remains suboptimal in many parts of the world, especially in low-and middle-income countries (LMICs), including South Africa. Vaccine hesitancy, a recognized factor contributing to low vaccination uptake in many parts of the world, is suspect in the suboptimal vaccination coverage level in South Africa, particularly in the Western Cape Province. We aimed to investigate vaccine hesitancy and to describe point-of-care vaccinators' perceptions of the drivers of vaccine hesitancy in the Cape Metropolitan District, South Africa (Cape Metro). We conducted in-depth in

HPV vaccination hesitancy and acceptance among parents in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany: the role of gender, awareness and fear.

BACKGROUND: Despite national recommendations in Germany for universal HPV vaccination, uptake remains suboptimal—particularly among boys. Parental awareness, gender dynamics, and hesitancy play key roles in vaccination decisions. METHODS: A cross-sectional survey was conducted among 406 parents of children aged 9–14 years in Magdeburg, Saxony-Anhalt. An anonymized online questionnaire assessed HPV-associated awareness, attitudes, willingness to vaccinate, and conditions under which hesitant parents might reconsider. Statistical analyses included chi-square tests and logistic regression. Parent

Hesitancy toward vaccination against COVID-19: A scoping review of prevalence and associated factors in the Arab world.

Despite widespread availability of vaccines against SARS-CoV-2 virus, the cause of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), its uptake in many Arab countries is relatively low. This literature review aimed to scope evidence on COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy (VH) in the Arab world. A total of 134 articles reporting prevalence of COVID-19 VH and associated factors, conducted in any of the 22 Arab League countries, were reviewed. COVID-19 VH prevalence ranged from 5.4% to 83.0%. Female gender, young age, low education level and lack of previous influenza vaccine uptake were most commonly reported to be a

COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy in Zambia: a glimpse at the possible challenges ahead for COVID-19 vaccination rollout in sub-Saharan Africa.

With unprecedented speed, multiple vaccines against SARS-CoV-2 are available 1 year after the COVID-19 pandemic was first identified. As we push to achieve global control through these new vaccines, old challenges present themselves, including cold-chain storage, the logistics of mass vaccination, and vaccine hesitancy. Understanding how much hesitancy toward COVID-19 vaccines might occur and what factors may be driving these concerns can improve the ability of public health workers and communicators to maximize vaccine uptake. We nested a survey within a measles-rubella mass vaccination campa

Characteristics of COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy in university students: Methodological insights from a syndemic perspective.

This paper offers a methodological critique of the study by AlShurman et al. that examined whether COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy (VH) and COVID-19-related factors interact to influence booster dose uptake among university students in Canada from a syndemic perspective. The original cross-sectional survey was conducted among 4453 students at the University of Waterloo in 2024. VH was measured retrospectively for primary doses and concurrently for booster doses, with a change score computed to capture shifts in hesitancy over time. Logistic regression models were used to assess the main effects and

Political context and COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy in the European Union: populism, government trustworthiness, and policy.

Vaccine hesitancy is a significant 21st Century public health challenge, with vaccines being increasingly politicized in public and government discourse and policymaking, particularly since the introduction of COVID-19 vaccines. We evaluate the potential roles of national political and policy context for individuals' COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy across 27 European Union countries at two timepoints of the pandemic-assessing the extent to which national-level populism and government trustworthiness are associated with individuals' COVID-19 vaccination attitudes and receipt (actual or intended)-dir

COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy in Chinese residents: A national cross-sectional survey in the community setting.

Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) vaccine hesitancy is associated with community aggregation, inducing low vaccine coverage and potentially more frequent community-level outbreak. Addressing vaccine hesitancy in community settings should be a priority for healthcare providers. A cross-sectional online questionnaire survey was conducted during June and July 2022. Ten sites were set up in eastern, central, and western China, from where residents were recruited in a community setting. In total, 7,241 residents from 71 communities were included. Of the residents, 7.0% ha

Factors associated with COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy and uptake among populations in the West department of Haiti.

INTRODUCTION: The COVID-19 pandemic in Haiti led to increased challenges for a population concurrently dealing with natural and social disasters, poor quality health care, lack of clean running water, and inadequate housing. In 2022, the population of Haiti was 11.4 million. While half a million vaccines for COVID-19 were donated by the United States to the government of Haiti, less than 5% of the population agreed to be vaccinated. This resulted in thousands of unused doses that were diverted to other countries. The purpose of this study was to evaluate population characteristics related to v
