BACKGROUND: The purpose of this study was to illustrate the technique of our full retroperitoneoscopic radical nephroureterectomy (frRNU) involving an intracorporeal, extravesical bladder cuff excision (BCE) and assess its safety and early oncological outcomes.
METHODS: Between June 2020 and November 2023, 27 patients underwent frRNU for upper tract urothelial carcinoma. Surgical and oncological outcomes were assessed.

STUDY DESIGN: Case report.
OBJECTIVE: A retroperitoneal lymphocele is a very rare complication associated with anterior lumbar interbody fusion surgery.
SUMMARY OF BACKGROUND DATA: We report the diagnosis and management of 3 retroperitoneal lymphoceles, which occurred after anterior left retroperitoneal approaches for lumbar interbody fusion.
METHODS: As the radiologic examinations revealed the lymphoceles in all 3 cases laparoscopic fenestration was performed.
RESULTS: The patients had good recovery and no recurrence of the lymphoceles occurred.

Pelvic fractures are frequently complicated by concomitant vascular lacerations involving, particularly, branches originating from the internal iliac arteries. Injury of the lumbar arteries is a cause of potentially life-threatening retroperitoneal hemorrhage. Twelve patients who sustained massive hemorrhage of the lumbar arteries associated with lumbar spinal fractures and/or pelvic fractures are described. Computed tomography (CT) was helpful by revealing a distinct separation of the lumbar hemorrhage from the hematomas associated with pelvic fracture. On arteriograms, stasis within lumbar extravasation was manifested as globular or streaky accumulations of contrast medium, pseudoaneurysms or diffuse "staining," or opacification of a fracture site.

Patients treated with bleomycin are at risk of developing the acute adult respiratory distress syndrome post-operatively. In a prospective study of 12 patients who had received bleomycin preoperatively and were undergoing removal of retroperitoneal lymph nodes or pulmonary metastases several preventive factors were established. These were the use of low concentrations of inspired oxygen during operation and in the immediate postoperative period, careful monitoring of fluid replacement, and restriction of crystalloids in favour of colloids.

Investigation of the abdomen by ultrasounds must now be included among routine tools in abdominal diseases. All abdominal organs, with the exception of the intestine with its gas content, are open to investigation with this technique which combines harmlessness and rapidity with its unique possibility of making differential diagnosis possible in structures with different tissue constitution. The limitations are to be sought more in the examiner's interpretational capacities and in the apparatu's limited resolution power rather than in the technique proper.
