We present 250 cases of thymomas with emphasis on their clinical staging and follow-up. The patients were 120 males and 130 females between the ages of 13 and 92 years. Surgical resection was performed and histopathologic material evaluated in every case. Grossly, the tumors resected varied in size from 3 to 20 cm in greatest diameter. According to our proposed staging system, 31 cases were stage 0, 128 were stage I, 70 stage II, and 21 stage III at the time of resection. Thymectomy on day 3 after birth (3d-Tx) induces autoimmune gastritis (AIG) in 81%, and oophoritis (AIO) in 25% of BALB/c mice at the age of 2 to 3 months. Good syndrome is an immunodeficiency presenting with thymoma, hypogammaglobulinemia and almost absent B cells. To investigate the origin of the B-cell lymphopenia in these patients, we studied B cell differentiation in the bone marrow of Good syndrome patients. We found very low numbers of precursor B cells in bone marrow of Good syndrome patients and a differentiation arrest after the pro-B-cell stage; this is different from other agammaglobulinemia patients with a defect in pre B-cell receptor signaling.

The purpose of this study was to determine the short-term and long-term effects of repeated daily administration of low dose anti-CD3 monoclonal antibody (mAb) on CD4+ and CD8+ T cell number and function. Antilymphocytic globulin (ALG) suppressed the development of haemolytic anaemia with positive antiglobulin (Coombs) reactions in intact and adult thymectomized New Zealand Black (NZB) mice, although some recipients eventually became positive after treatment was stopped.
