Anxiety sensitivity (AS) is an established cognitive risk factor for anxiety disorders. In children and adolescents, AS is usually measured with the Childhood Anxiety Sensitivity Index (CASI). Factor analytic studies suggest that the CASI is comprised of 3 lower-order factors pertaining to Physical, Psychological and Social Concerns. There has been little research on the validity of these lower-order factors. Patients with panic disorder often describe dizziness as a disturbing symptom, with more severe episodes reported than in other psychiatric populations. Nineteen patients diagnosed as having a panic disorder were tested for vestibulo-ocular (VOR) abnormalities with the Vestibular Autorotation Test (VAT), a computerized test of the high-frequency (2 to 6 Hz) VOR. Although panic disorder is generally believed to begin in young adulthood, 13 cases of panic disorder with an initial onset after age 60 years have recently been seen at our clinics. Other than the time of life in which the first panic attack occurred, clinical and demographic profiles of these 13 patients were similar to those that have been reported for panic disorder patients whose panic began earlier in life. Consecutive admissions to a university hospital coronary intensive care unit were prospectively evaluated using a modified version of the Structured Clinical Interview for DSM-III-R by interviewers blind to the patient's cardiac status. Buspirone was compared with imipramine and placebo in the treatment of panic disorder in an 8-week, double-blind controlled study of 52 randomly assigned patients. The side effect profile of buspirone was less disruptive than that of imipramine. Buspirone was not significantly superior to placebo in its antipanic or anxiolytic effects in panic disorder patients.

ACL-r has several potential benefits over ACL reconstruction (ACL-R) including maintaining the native ACL innervation and blood supply, no graft site morbidity, and possible improved knee biomechanics and decrease in osteoarthritis.
