BACKGROUND: Aphakic and juvenile open-angle glaucoma (JOAG) cases often prove to be challenging to manage, frequently requiring surgical intervention. Angle surgery has some reported success in these cases.

Graft survival rates and causes of graft failure were evaluated for 1046 consecutive keratoplasties in four groups: keratoconus, Fuchs' dystrophy, pseudophakic bullous keratopathy with retained intraocular lenses (IOLs), and pseudophakic/aphakic bullous keratopathy with secondary lens implants. BACKGROUND: Canaloplasty provides a new option in non-penetrating glaucoma surgery. The aim of this study is to examine its early postsurgical safety and efficacy.
PATIENTS AND METHODS: This was a retrospective study of canaloplasties performed at our institution in 2009 (n=46, 13 of which were combined with cataract surgery). The mean follow-up was 6.0±3.4 months. The most important parameters examined were intraocular pressure (IOP), number of topical medications, postoperative complications, and required additional surgery.

BACKGROUND: Extracapsular cataract (ECCE) surgery is becoming increasingly popular in surgical eye camps of developing countries. This study assesses the outcome of 166 eyes at 6 weeks and 14 and 32 months after ECCE with and without implantation of intraocular lens in refugee camps of eastern Nepal.
METHOD: All patients operated on in seven refugee camps during the 3 years before the assessment were included in the study population. Visual acuity, examination of anterior segment and posterior segments, and grading of capsular opacification using a standardised grading system were performed.

We performed a prospective study of corneal endothelial cell loss following pars plana vitrectomy. Two different intraocular irrigating solutions were used, and the anterior capsule of the lens was removed when performing lensectomy. PURPOSE:: To describe the clinical outcomes of traumatic aphakic eyes with corneal astigmatism after using a novel technique for toric intraocular lens suture fixation.

PURPOSE: To compare the visual and anatomical outcomes of four surgical techniques to manage pseudophakic and aphakic retinal detachment (PARD).
METHODS: In a multicenter randomized clinical trial, 211 eyes of 211 patients with PARD and proliferative vitreoretinopathy (PVR) grade B or less were randomly assigned to one of the four treatment groups: (1) scleral buckling (SB), 50 eyes, (2) vitrectomy without band, 51 eyes, (3) vitrectomy with encircling band (EB), 58 eyes, and (4) triamcinolone acetonide (TA) assisted vitrectomy, 52 eyes.
