Revictimisation Across Types of Interpersonal Violence: A Meta-Regression Analysis of PTSD and Associated Factors.

The literature has consistently demonstrated that being the victim of interpersonal violence increases the risk of future interpersonal violence (i.e., revictimisation). In this context, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is highly important since it has been investigated as a risk factor and consequence of revictimisation. The aim of the current study was to (a) compute a rate of revictimisation across types of interpersonal violence, and (b) examine which factors are associated with observed rates of revictimisation. We conducted a pre-registered systematic search in PubMed, APA PsycInfo,

Implantation of a vascular access button in mice.

Vascular access presents unique challenges in experimental mice due to their small size and anatomical constraints. Achieving reliable vascular access is crucial for optimizing experimental outcomes, especially in protocols requiring serial blood sampling or repeated intravascular therapy. Although vascular access buttons (VABs) offer significant advantages, their widespread adoption has been limited by technical challenges and a lack of comprehensive validation regarding their safety, feasibility, and long-term management. To address these gaps, we conducted a comprehensive evaluation of VAB

Beyond swimming: emerging parameters for predicting the fertility of mouse spermatozoa.

Cryopreservation of spermatozoa can be used as a cost-effective way of preserving the ever-increasing number of genetically modified mouse lines. Nevertheless, discontinuing the breeding of a line or strain is only warranted after the quality control of cryopreserved sperm; the ability of sperm to survive the freezing-thawing process and produce well-developed embryos needs to be confirmed. In animal research husbandries, the fertility of frozen-thawed sperm is routinely tested using in vitro fertilization. However, this procedure requires euthanizing a considerable number of females to acquir

At the brink of a paradigm shift in early cancer detection: Insights and directions for the modeling community.

Multicancer early detection (MCED) tests are more than a new class of blood-based tests; they are complex medical innovations representing an integrated diagnostic platform combining molecular and computational technologies. They embody a paradigm shift in how to conceptualize, detect, and manage cancer-carrying the potential to improve outcomes and reduce disparities, yet also the risk of exacerbating them. Real-world evidence remains limited, and existing evidence point to substantial heterogeneity even in standard-of-care screening practices-reflecting patterns of overuse and underuse, fluc

Unified-Removal: A Semi-Supervised Framework for Simultaneously Addressing Multiple Degradations in Real-World Images.

This work introduces Uni-Removal, an innovative two-stage framework that effectively addresses the critical challenge of domain adaptation in unified image restoration. Contemporary approaches often face significant performance degradation when transitioning from synthetic training environments to complex real-world scenarios due to the substantial domain discrepancy. Our proposed solution establishes a comprehensive pipeline that systematically bridges this gap through dual-phase representation learning. In the first stage, we implement a structured multi-teacher knowledge distillation mechan

Computational modelling for risk assessment of neurological disorder in diabetes using Hodgkin-Huxley model.

BACKGROUND: Diabetes mellitus, characterized by chronic glucose dysregulation, significantly increases the risk of neurological disorders such as cognitive decline, seizures, and Alzheimer's disease. As neurons depend on glucose for energy, fluctuations in glucose levels can disrupt sodium (Na⁺) and potassium (K⁺) ion channel dynamics, leading to altered membrane potential. Modeling these ionic changes enables the simulation of neuronal responses under glycemic extremes, providing valuable insights for risk assessment and personalized treatment. METHOD: The methodology utilizes Support Vector

High Anti-Swelling Zwitterion-Based Hydrogel with Merit Stretchability and Conductivity for Motion Detection and Information Transmission.

Hydrogel sensors show unique advantages in underwater detection, ocean monitoring, and human-computer interaction because of their excellent flexibility, biocompatibility, high sensitivity, and environmental adaptability. However, due to the water environment, hydrogels will dissolve to a certain extent, resulting in insufficient mechanical strength, poor long-term stability, and signal interference. In this paper, a double-network structure was constructed by polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and poly([2-(methacryloyloxy) ethyl]7 dimethyl-(3-sulfopropyl) ammonium hydroxide) (PSBMA). The resultant PVA/P
