BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: To investigate the influence of selective laser trabeculoplasty on mean diurnal intraocular pressure (IOP) and diurnal IOP fluctuation in primary open-angle glaucoma.
PATIENTS AND METHODS: After washout from intraocular pressure-lowering drugs, a baseline diurnal IOP curve was obtained for 26 eyes of 13 patients before selective laser trabeculoplasty. The IOP curve was repeated at 3 and 6 months.

A new method for surgical treatment of secondary glaucoma (neovascular, postuveal, traumatic, and aphakic) is described. The aims of the new method are as follows: regulation of ophthalmic tone in the postoperative period, pain relief, organ preservation, stabilization of the process, and creation of reliable routes of intraocular fluid discharge with formation of a stable diffuse functional pad. Seven patients (8 eyes) aged 13-70 years were operated on and followed up for up to 6 months. Preliminary results are presented. Positive shifts were observed in all cases.

PURPOSE: Previous studies have documented good pressure control with combined cataract and filtering surgery. However, relatively high incidences of iridocapsular synechiae (ICS) and cell precipitates on the optic (CPO) were found. Corneal valve incisions preclude intraoperative chamber flattening and iris injury or prolapse. Rigid one-piece PMMA lenses with a small optic maintain a pronounced optic-iris clearance.
