PURPOSE: To compare 2 frequently used aqueous shunts for the treatment of glaucoma.
DESIGN: International, multicenter, randomized trial.
PARTICIPANTS: Patients aged 18 years or older with uncontrolled glaucoma despite maximum tolerated medical therapy, many of whom had failed or were at high risk of failing trabeculectomy.
METHODS: Eligible patients were randomized to receive an Ahmed-FP7 valve implant (New World Medical, Inc, Rancho Cucamonga, CA) or a Baerveldt-350 implant (Abbott Medical Optics, Inc, Santa Ana, CA) using a standardized surgical technique.

BACKGROUND: The aim of this study was to investigate a possible influence of body mass index (BMI) to the outcome of trabectome surgery.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: To report the 5-year intraocular pressure (IOP) outcomes of patients requiring a 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) needling revision compared to a matched sample.

PURPOSE: The topical alpha-2 adrenergic agonist, brimonidine, although effective at intraocular pressure (IOP) reduction in adults, is contraindicated in infants/small children due to severe systemic side effects. The topical alpha-2 adrenergic agonist apraclonidine, used for short-term IOP reduction in adults, and described for Horner's syndrome testing, has recently been reported to cause systemic side effects in children. We have used topical apraclonidine 0.5% to treat infants and small children with glaucoma undergoing angle surgery, and selected children needing additional IOP reduction.
