Association between menopausal status and physical function: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

The aim of this systematic review with meta-analysis was to analyze the association between menopausal status and physical function. This review of observational studies followed the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA) statement and was registered in PROSPERO. Searches were performed in the PubMed, Cochrane Library, SciELO, LILACS and Web of Science databases. RevMan 5 was used for meta-analysis. Twenty-six studies were included, and 80.8% showed significant associations between menopausal status and physical function. Compared to postmenopausal women, pr

Psychoeducational Challenges of Dyslexic Children During the COVID-19 Pandemic: A Systematic Review.

Dyslexic students faced psychological and educational challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic and online learning, including increased anxiety, low self-esteem, reduced reading interest, limited access to educational technologies, insufficient teacher support, and difficulties with reading fluency and concentration. Examining these challenges is crucial for implementing effective measures and enhancing post-pandemic learning. This study investigates the psycho-educational challenges of dyslexic children during the pandemic, highlighting the need for targeted interventions to support them in cu

Parasitology at the heart of the "One Health" concept: a longstanding alliance illustrated by cysticercosis control.

The "One Health" concept, emphasizing the interdependence of human, animal, and ecosystem health, has gained renewed global attention and institutional support from the World Health Organization, Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, United Nations Environment Program, and World Organization for Animal Health. Here we underline that some principles of parasitology are embedded in this concept. As early as the 19th century, Rudolf Virchow affirmed the unity of human and veterinary medicine, a vision long practiced by parasitologists through their multidisciplinary work on zoo

Mapping Non-Monetary Values in Data Sharing: Development and Validation of an SSH Framework Across Sectors.

BACKGROUND: Data sharing is increasingly recognised as essential for innovation, sustainability, and resilience in Europe. However, existing frameworks primarily focus on technical and economic aspects, neglecting non-monetary values such as trust, ethics, cultural readiness, and organisational capacity. This study addresses this gap through the development and validation of a Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH) Framework for Data Sharing. METHODS: A foresight-oriented, multi-method design combined a systematic literature review, interviews across six European pilots, and participatory fores

[Analytical Methods for Residual Compositional Substances of Agricultural Chemicals, Feed Additives, and Veterinary Drugs in Foods].

Pesticides, veterinary drugs, and feed additives (hereinafter referred to as "pesticides") can remain in foods when used in agricultural and livestock products. Since consuming a variety of foods every day can result in ingesting trace amounts of these pesticides, which may be harmful to health, risk management for residual pesticides in foods is necessary to prevent adverse effects. Based on the Food Sanitation Act, the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW) has established maximum residue limits (MRLs) for each pesticide and each food type. Currently, approximately 770 pesticides have

Risk factors of surgical site infection in liver transplantation recipients: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

Surgical site infection (SSI) is a common and significant complication following organ transplantation, with liver transplantation (LT) being particularly susceptible to high infection rate. Despite its prevalence, no systematic meta-analysis has integrated evidence across major risk factors associated with post-LT SSI. We performed a systematic review and meta-analysis of studies from PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and the Cochrane Database. We searched for eligible articles through April 2025. Of 8593 articles screened, 18 were included. R 4.1.3 software was used for this meta-analysis. Eig

This makes promoting autonomy in palliative care particularly challenging. AIM: The present review aimed to identify factors and strategies that promote the autonomy of adolescents in palliative care. DESIGN: We conducted a systematic review following Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines, searching PubMed, Web of Science, and Scopus. This systematic review synthesized existi

Antithrombotic therapy after left atrial appendage occlusion.

INTRODUCTION: Left atrial appendage occlusion (LAAO) represents a strategy to minimize thromboembolic risk in atrial fibrillation (AF) patients. However, LAAO carries some risks of periprocedural bleeding, device embolization, peri-device leaks or device-related thrombosis; the latter is due to direct blood contact with the device, justifying and represents the rationale behind antithrombotic therapy following LAAO. AREAS COVERED: A comprehensive literature search (PubMed, Web of Science, Cochrane) has been performed up to November 2024. Antithrombotic drugs after LAAO include vitamin K antag

Validation of new, circulating biomarkers for gliomas.

OBJECTIVES: Biomarkers are useful clinical tools but only a handful of them are used routinely for patient care. Despite intense efforts to discover new, clinically useful biomarkers, very few new circulating biomarkers were implemented in clinical practice in the last 40 years. This is mainly due to rather poor clinical performance. Here, our goal was to validate the performance of a group of newly discovered circulating biomarkers for glioma by comparing our data with data from a paper recently published in Science Advances. METHODS: We analyzed our own sets of clinical samples (gliomas (n=

Prevalence of psychological problems among individuals and couples during assisted reproductive technology(ART) treatment: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

BACKGROUND: The psychological problems of infertile couples deserve more attention given the impact on pregnancy outcomes. AIMS: This systematic review and meta-analysis was designed to assess the prevalence of anxiety, depression, and stress in couples during assisted reproductive treatment. MATERIALS AND METHODS: We conducted searches on PubMed, Embase, and Web of Science from the outset until September 2024. Random-effects models were conducted to estimate the pooled prevalence of anxiety, depression and stress. Subgroup analyses were performed to seek potential sources of heterogeneity.
