Coagulation properties were studied thromboelastographically in 76 patients with acute gastroduodenal hemorrhages due to ulcerous disease of the stomach and duodenum, hemorrhagic gastritis and Mallory-Weiss syndrome. A certain regularity was revealed, i. e. the more profuse the hemorrhage the more frequent hypocoagulation associated with high fibrinolysis rate. With this in view transfusion therapy should be aimed not only at the replacement of circulary blood bolume but also at the suppression of high fibrinolytic activity of blood.

Bacterial endotoxins in vitro are capable of shortening the coagulation time of normal whole blood, native platelet-rich and platelet-poor plasma, and the blood of a hemophilic patient in silicone but not in glass. Heparinized human blood was exposed to the dialysis membranes of commercially available pediatric size hemodialyzers in an in vitro flow circuit. OBJECTIVES: Thromboembolic events are the major factor affecting the prognosis of patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD). Haemostatic alterations are possible causes of these complications, but their roles remain poorly characterised. OBJECTIVES: The study was undertaken to evaluate selected blood coagulation factors in patients undergoing surgery, due to endometrial cysts and other ovarian benign cysts.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: Women involved in our study had not received any previous treatment for endometriosis and they had no history of any prior haemostatic disorders. Blood samples were collected before surgery and investigated for plasminogen, alpha2-antyplasmin, PAI-1 and tPA activity.
