UNLABELLED: Scaphocapitate arthrodesis with lunate excision was performed for treatment of advanced Kienböck disease in 17 patients (18 wrists). Ten were women and seven men. Five were Lichtmann Stage IIIA, 12 Stage IIIB, and one Stage IV. Minimum follow-up period was 24 months; mean follow-up was 10.7 years (range 2.3 to 22 years, SD 7.1). This study was designed to determine whether prophylactic pinning of the unaffected hip in unilateral slipped capital femoral epiphysis affects the proximal femoral morphology. PURPOSE: Children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and food selectivity are at increased risk for nutritional deficiencies which could affect bone health.
METHODS: We report on four male patients with ASD and avoidant restrictive food intake disorder (ARFID) with significant bone conditions including rickets, vertebral compression fractures, osteopenia, and slipped capital femoral epiphyses.

We report on a 12-year-old girl with acrofacial dysplasia, growth retardation, joint contractures, mitral valve incompetence and focal hepatic storage of material reacting histochemically as glycoprotein. The patient's phenotype resembles that of patients with geleophysic dysplasia but differs with respect to facial appearance, milder changes of hand bones and normal capital femoral epiphyses. It is undecided if her disorder is part of a wider phenotypic spectrum of geleophysic dysplasia or a different entity.

In situ pinning and subtrochanteric osteotomy have been widely used in the operative treatment of slipped capital femoral epiphyses. A review of all operative procedures performed at Children's Orthopedic Hospital in Seattle, Washington from 1960 to 1982 was performed. BACKGROUND: Familial inheritance of slipped capital femoral epiphysis (SCFE) is known. It has not been described in non-identical twins. A family where the mother and three of five siblings developed SCFE were investigated and managed.
METHODS: Anthropometric measurement consisted of height-weight ratios. Serum sex hormone levels and bone Gla Protein was measured. Bone mineral densities were evaluated.
RESULTS: The affected siblings had higher bodyweight percentiles. Other investigations were within normal limits.
