Melanomas usually present as oval lesions in which the borders may be irregular. Other morphological features of melanoma include clinical asymmetry, variable color, diameter greater than 6 mm and evolving lesions. We present an unusual association of mediastinal germ cell tumor containing seminoma and angiosarcoma components and splenic histiocytic sarcoma. A 15-year-old boy presented with chest pain. A 27-year-old man was admitted with a complaint of induration of the left testis in August, 1992. On physical examination, he had a palpable supraclavicular mass. The clinical diagnosis was testicular cancer with metastases of lung field, cervical, mediastinal and retroperitoneal lymph node. We reviewed 59 cases of pineal tumors and intracranial germ-cell tumors. Most pineal tumors occurred in the first three decades of life, with the exception of pineocytomas, which were seen at a mean age of 34. Embryonal cell carcinoma of the testis was seen in 2 homosexuals with peripheral lymphadenopathy of the head and neck, and abnormal cellular immunity measured by reduced T helper cells and increased T suppressor cells. A normal colon and granulocyte antigen (NCA) is found in large amounts in neutrophil granulocytes. A method combining freeze-thawing and ultrasonication of whole blood proved to be the most efficient in recovery of NCA from separated granulocytes or whole blood. A study of the incidence and clinical course of testicular germ-cell tumor metastatic to the gastrointestinal tract is presented. Gastrointestinal tract metastasis occurred in 25 cases, 5% of all patients evaluated with germ-cell tumor of the testis. The carcinogenic effects of BHP in organ-cultured embryonic rat pancreas was demonstrated by both the transplacental route followed by organ culture and by direct addition on BHP to the culture medium. Both methods appeared efficient for in vitro induction of adenocarcinoma. The incidence of carcinoma was 70% by direct addition and 55% through transplacental administration. No acinar cell carcinoma developed in vitro, but the incidence of islet adenoma (54%) and islet carcinoma (11%) were relatively high. Transplacentally, BHP failed to produce any pancreatic tumor in vivo.
