We present the case of a 41-year-old man admitted to the hospital with fever and toxic syndrome possibly having an oncological or infectious origin. A whole body scan with 67Ga-citrate showed an intense and diffuse radiotracer accumulation in the thyroid gland. The patient was re-evaluated and studied with other diagnostic tests including a thyroid 99mTc-pertechnetate scintigraphy and a thyroidal radioiodine uptake. A correct final diagnosis of painless subacute thyroiditis was made.

A high frequency of sexual dysfunction occurs in treated and untreated patients with schizophrenia. Unfortunately, no effective therapy for this problem is currently available. We present a case of a 26-year-old patient with paranoid schizophrenia, who suffered from lack of desire and erection, and was successfully treated with sildenafil citrate (Viagra). This case illustrates the complex character of sexual dysfunction in male schizophrenia patients.

Fifteen cases (9 males, 6 females, ages: 18-73 y/o) of salmonella bacteremia were referred for a Gallium-67 citrate (Ga-67) scan to detect the focal site(s) of salmonella infection. Among them, 8 were finally proved to have focal infection(s). Their underlying diseases were systemic lupus erythematous (SLE, 4 cases), malignancies (2 cases), immunocompromise (1 case) and unknown disease (1 case). The focal infections detected were septic arthritis in 6, soft tissue abscesses in 4 and lung abscesses in 2. The food-calcium (Ca) interaction was examined in 12 healthy women (mean age 38 years) maintained on a constant metabolic diet. They underwent three phases of study, comprised of control (no Ca), Ca citrate (1 g Ca/day) during meals, and Ca citrate separately from meals.
