We found a program of intravenous and subsequent oral clindamycin, combined with oral primaquine, to be effective for Pneumocystis carinii pneumonia in nine patients with AIDS. The pneumonias were either primary or recurrent and sometimes severe, with cavity formation and/or pneumothorax.
