Digital light printing of zirconia/resin composite material with biomimetic graded design for dental application.

OBJECTIVE: Stress concentration and excessive wear on the opposite jaw teeth are the main problems that lead to the failure of all-ceramic crown restoration. The objectives of this study were to: (1) Synthesize the biomimetic gradient zirconia/resin composites. (2) Control the porosity and structure so that the mechanical properties of the biomimetic gradient zirconia/resin composites are close to enamel and dentin. METHODS: Biomimetic uniform zirconia scaffolds with different widths (1.6 mm, 1.8 mm, 1.9 mm, 2.0 mm, 2.2 mm) and Biomimetic gradient (1.6 mm-2.2 mm) zirconia scaffolds were desig

Effect of Silver Diamine Fluoride and Potassium Iodide on Microleakage of Composite Resin in Anterior Primary Teeth.

AIM: One of the preventive interventions for early childhood caries is the use of silver diamine fluoride (SDF), which works uniquely in the prevention of caries. The suggested method to minimize the discoloration of SDF is the use of potassium iodide (KI). However, there are concerns about the bonding properties of dentin after the application of SDF-KI. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate how SDF-KI affects composite resin microleakage in primary teeth. MATERIALS AND METHODS: In this in vitro study, class V cavities were created on the buccal surfaces of 60 extracted primary canines.

Using Resin Infiltration Technique and Direct Composite Restorations for the Treatment of Carious Lesions with Different Depths.

Minimally invasive treatment methods are of special interest in restorative dental practice, with numerous methods emerging in the last decade. Such methods are being developed to encompass various applications, an important one being the detection and treatment of caries in the early stages. White spot lesions are the earliest visible stage of the caries process. These lesions have a chalky, opaque appearance, which results in esthetic dissatisfaction. In contrast to the principles of minimally invasive dentistry, considerable amounts of sound tooth structure need to be sacrificed to get rid

Preparation and Properties of Shape Memory PEG/IEM Resin and Its Composite Designed for Ureter Stent.

In this paper, isocyanoethyl methacrylate (IEM) is used to functionalize the two ends of poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) diol with acrylic acid groups through an urethanization reaction. The synthesized PEG/IEM resin is then photo-cured with a 405 nm ultraviolet lamp. Ttrans of the PEG/IEM resin can be regulated by the different molecular weights of PEG and the use of plasticizer Triacetin to reach 44 °C, which is closer to the human body temperature. Cytotoxicity assay and DMA shape memory cycling testing show that the PEG/IEM resin has excellent biocompatibility and shape memory properties. The

MWCNT-Coated Glass Fabric/Phenol Composite Heating Panel Fabricated by Resin Infusion Process.

MWCNTs (multiwalled carbon nanotubes) were applied to fiber-reinforced composite materials with phenolic resin having flame retardance for the composite heating panels of railroad vehicles. Instead of dispersing MWCNTs in the matrix, the surface of a pristine plain-weave glass fiber fabric was coated with MWCNTs through a series of dip-coating and drying processes, followed by the resin infusion of the phenolic resin to make the composite heating panel. Before and after the resin infusion process, low percolation thresholds of 0.00216 wt%MWCNT (weight percent of MWCNTs) and 0.001 wt%MWCNT, res

Fabrication of anion exchanger resin/nano-CdS composite photocatalyst for visible light RhB degradation.

A novel nanocomposite photocatalyst, D201-CdS beads (0.70-0.80 mm in diameter), was fabricated for visible light (λ > 420 nm) photodegradation of Rhodamine B (RhB). Sphalerite CdS nanoparticles (5-15 nm) were distributed within the outer layer of D201 for favorable visible light permeation. Ultraviolet-visible spectral changes of RhB solution indicated that efficient RhB photodegradation was achieved by D201-CdS under visible light irradiation. More attractively, negligible photocorrosion of the hybrid catalyst D201-CdS was demonstrated by the constant photodegradation efficiency and negligibl

Response of the dental pulp to capping with a composite resin-bonded ceramic and dental adhesive in rat molars.

An inflammatory response occurs in the pulp tissue following the application of dental materials due to their chemical properties and/or a secondary bacterial irritation. Recently, a new line of composite resin products with reported improved esthetic qualities was designed to allow an intimate adherence with the dentin. This intense bonding could prevent bacterial penetration and marginal discoloration of these restorations. In addition, this method allows prevention of excessive removal of hard tissue. The present study examines pulpal reaction to capping with P-10 composite resin (Dental Pr
