Only five patients had a principal diagnosis on axis III (physical disorders). The most common diagnoses on axis I were dysthymic, anxiety, somatoform, and substance use disorders. Compulsive personality disorder or trait was the most common axis II diagnosis. Ninety-five patients had multiple diagnoses. Association of trait-defined, eating-disorder sub-phenotypes with (biallelic and triallelic) 5HTTLPR variations.

CONTEXT: Efforts to classify eating-disordered individuals based on concurrent personality traits have consistently converged on a typology encompassing "over-regulated", "dysregulated", and "low psychopathology" subgroups. In various populations, evidence has associated personality variations of an "over-regulated/dysregulated" type with differences on serotonin-system indices, and specifically, with different loadings of serotonin transporter promoter regulatory region polymorphism (5HTTLPR) genotypes and alleles. We explored the extent to which an empirical, trait-defined typology of eating

Individuals identified as having an obsessive style displayed the predicted patterns (Information and Vocabulary greater than Comprehension), while their hysteric counterparts displayed only a trend toward certain predicted patterns (Comprehension greater than Information and Vocabulary). Predicted between-group differences were significant. Higher base rates of obsessive features in a college

MR-based in vivo hippocampal volumetrics: 2. Findings in neuropsychiatric disorders.

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has opened a new window to the brain. Measuring hippocampal volume with MRI has provided important information about several neuropsychiatric disorders. We reviewed the literature and selected all English-language, human subject, data-driven papers on hippocampal volumetry, yielding a database of 423 records. Smaller hippocampal volumes have been reported in epilepsy, Alzheimer's disease, dementia, mild cognitive impairment, the aged, traumatic brain injury, cardiac arrest, Parkinson's disease, Huntington's disease, Cushing's disease, herpes simplex encephaliti
