The absorption and fluorescence spectra of rhodamine 6G (R6G) dissolved in water, methanol, ethanol and isopropanol have been applied to calibrate the pressure in a diamond anvil cell (DAC). A novel and simple method based on optical-fiber frequency domain interferometer to measure the deformation of diamond anvils under high pressure is presented. The working principle and application examples are given in this paper. The deformation of diamond anvils is obtained up to 37.7 GPa, our results verify that the deformation has an obvious difference between uploading and downloading at a given pressure, the maximum difference is up to 4.5 μm at 18.8 GPa, and the cupping effect is observed directly.

This study was aimed to explore the mutations of ribosomal protein (RP) genes in patients with Diamond Blackfan anemia (DBA). OBJECTIVES/HYPOTHESIS: Management of frontal sinus disease may require drill-out of bone in the frontal recess for access, ventilation, and drainage of the sinus cavity; removal of osteitic foci; or resection of neoplastic tissue. Technological advances, particularly burrs with angles of 70 degrees and stereotactic navigational imaging, offer new opportunities to provide access and minimize trauma. Six children with chronic diarrhea and neutropenia, initially referred for evaluation of Shwachman-Diamond syndrome, were found to have no evidence of pancreatic insufficiency. All presented in the spring with a prodromal respiratory illness. Hematologic evaluation was normal except for iron deficiency anemia and neutropenia. Small intestinal biopsies of all children showed inflammation, consistent with chronic enteritis. The children were followed until growth returned to previous percentiles.
