The effect of antihistaminic drugs, histamine and their combinations on the development of anaphylactic shock and the period of repeated resolution doses was studied in rabbit experiments. It was established that administration of dimedrol during sensibilization aggravated while diazolin and histamine attenuated the course of anaphylactic shock and periods of repeated resolution injections. Simultaneous administration of antihistaminic agents and histamine enhanced the allergization of the body. A protein fraction, which consisted of at least 12 proteins, was obtained from the venom of Mexican scorpion Centruroides limpidus limpidus. The molecular weights of these proteins ranged between 9,800 and 163,000 daltons. This fraction was separated from the rest of the venom components, which were almost all neurotoxins, by chromatographying the venom obtained by electrical stimulation through a Sephadex G-50M column. Artificial immunization of rats against Taenia taeniaeformis was studied using somatic antigen (Som-Ag) and excretory-secretory antigen (ES-Ag). It was found that both Som-Ag and ES-Ag stimulated immediate-type hypersensitivity and delayed-type hypersensitivity reactions of similar levels. A renewed interest in oral desensitization as treatment for food allergy has been observed in the last few years. We studied a novel method based on the end point skin prick test procedure to establish the starting dose for oral desensitization in a group of 30 children highly allergic to milk. The results (in terms of reactions to the first dose administered) were compared with a group of 20 children allergic to milk as well. Such control group started to swallow the same dose of 0.015 mg/ml of milk. None reacted to the first dose when administered according to the end point skin prick test.

The generation of secondary suppressor T (Ts) cells has been studied during latent Japanese encephalitis virus (JEV) infection of mice. The mice infected with JEV 27 weeks earlier, on challenge with the homologous virus, showed accelerated generation of secondary Ts cells; these appeared on Day 6, with peak activity on Day 8, and lasted for 27 days.
