OBJECTIVE: To conclude the effectiveness of arthroscopy combined with Burks and SchaVer's approach in the treatment of posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) avulsion fractures in a floppy lateral position.

Acute avulsions of the tibial tubercle apophysis are uncommon, with reported incidence of 0.4-2.7% of all physeal injuries. In our case the extent of the injury was not realised at first presentation and initial internal fixation was attempted. At first outpatient follow-up, repeat radiographs indicated the fracture was not reduced and further CT imaging requested. Isolated avulsion fracture of the index finger metacarpal is rare. There have been only a few noted in the English literature. A review of literature shows that these injuries occur as a result of avulsion of the tendon of extensor carpi radialis longus. In our report we present a case of such an avulsion injury where the proximal fragment was pulled about 2 cm down. The patient was treated conservatively with early mobilisation.

Arthroscopic reconstruction of the anterior cruciate ligament-deficient knee using the middle third of the patellar tendon is an effective treatment for acute or chronic anterior cruciate ligament insufficiency. The strength of this bone-ligament-bone graft is superior to virtually all other autogenous tissue utilized.
