BACKGROUND: The current national burden of emergency general surgery (EGS) illnesses and the extent of surgeon involvement in the care of these patients remain largely unknown. To inform needs assessments, research, and education, we sought to: (1) translate previously developed International Classification of Diseases (ICD), 9th Revision, Clinical Modification (ICD-9-CM) diagnosis codes representing EGS conditions to ICD 10th Revision, CM (ICD-10-CM) codes and (2) determine the national burden of and assess surgeon involvement across EGS conditions.

Different variants of omentoduodeno- and omentogastroplasty were applied in 69 patients during performance of gastric resection, perforative ulcer excision for the peritonitis dissemination prophylaxis. In 18 patients was used the polychlorvinyl drain, newly constructed by the authors. In 124 patients gastric resection according to Haberer with an oblique gastroduodenoanastomosis formation, the Treitz ligament dissection and duodenojejunal flexure descending were performed for the peritonitis dissemination prophylaxis.

PURPOSE: Grinding trajectory planning for robot-assisted laminectomy is a complicated and cumbersome task. The purpose of this research is to automatically obtain the surgical target area from the CT image, and based on this, formulate a reasonable robotic grinding trajectory.
METHODS: We propose a deep neural network for laminae positioning, a trajectory generation strategy, and a grinding speed adjusting strategy. These algorithms can obtain surgical information from CT images and automatically complete grinding trajectory planning.

The experience with 24 intussusceptions observed in a Department of General Surgery has been reviewed. The delay between onset of symptoms and hospitalization was less than 24 hours in 58% of cases, from 24 to 48 hours in 28%, and more than 48 hours in 14% of children. 23 patients were submitted to barium enema. Robotic surgery has become popular in recent decades and is already used in practically all surgical specialties. The increasing use of robotic systems has raised concerns about the safety of patients operated on by surgeons on a learning curve. This demand resulted in a standardized curriculum for training new surgeons. Public hospitals in Brazil possesses robotic systems, making surgical technology available to public healthcare. The relationship between funding and the healthcare model is one of the biggest obstacles to the deployment of expensive new treatments, such as the robotic system.
