Twenty patients with scalp seborrhoeic dermatitis were treated twice weekly with ketoconazole 2% shampoo for 4 weeks. Clinical assessment, culture for P. ovale on Dixon broth and lipid measurement at two places were made before treatment and after 2 and 4 weeks. A case of disseminated blastomycosis in a male renal transplant recipient is presented. Discontinuation of immunosuppressive therapy and treatment with high-dose ketoconazole was successful in treating the patient's cutaneous and pulmonary disease initially. Ketoconazole was discontinued after 12 months of chronic therapy, but 2 weeks after discontinuation, blastomycosis recurred. High-dose ketoconazole was again effective; the patient remains asymptomatic presently on chronic suppressive therapy with ketoconazole.

Combination of ketoconazole and trifluoperazine or chlorpromazine yielded an in vitro synergistic effect on growth inhibition of Candida albicans, Torulopsis glabrata, Cryptococcus neoformans, Candida parapsilosis and Candida tropicalis.
