We evaluated prospectively 100 patients, the largest reported series, with blepharospasm and orofacial-cervical dystonia, or Meige syndrome. The mean age at onset was 51.7 years, and 81% presented between the ages of 40 and 70. Women outnumbered men three to two. Blepharospasm was the initial symptom in 58 patients, but only 23 had involuntary movements localized to the orbicularis oculi. Idiopathic orofacial dyskinesia, also called Brueghel's syndrome, blepharospasm-oromandibular dystonia, and Meige dystonia, is characterized by involuntary facial movements. In 1910 the French neurologist Henry Meige described in detail a disorder characterized chiefly by symmetric dystonic spasms of the facial muscles, which he called "spasm facial median." Cases with this disorder are rare, and frequently misdiagnosed and inappropriately treated. We report here a translation of Meige's original description of "spasm facial median." We hope that this translation will make it easier to recognize and diagnose this disorder and that it will stimulate greater interest in this unusual syndrome.

Twelve patients with involuntary synkinetic eyelid closure were given 40 injections of botulinum A toxin. Temporary improvement in involuntary eyelid closure was observed in all 12 patients. Eleven of the 12 patients desired repeated injections. The syndrome of ovarian hyperstimulation is a little known aetiology of pleural effusion. It should be thought of in young women who are under treatment to induce ovulation. Serous effusions which occur in these cases are a serious sign. The effusions are exudates and not transudates as occurs in Demons-Meigs syndrome. Botulinum toxin A is the more efficient therapy of focal dystonias and hemifacial spasm. Our experience with botulinum toxin A injections in 115 patients is reported. BACKGROUND: Report the development of onabotulinumtoxinA neutralizing antibodies in patients treated consecutively for 20 years or longer for benign essential blepharospasm (BEB), hemifacial spasm (HFS), and Meige Syndrome.
METHODS: Prospective, randomized, cross-sectional study of 12 randomly selected patients from a single clinical practice that have been treated consecutively for 20 or more years with onabotulinumtoxinA for BEB, HFS, or Meige Syndrome. Serum samples were collected from each subject and analyzed for neutralizing antibody formation using the Mouse Protection Assay.

Juvenile granulosa cell tumor (GCT) is a rare tumor, and the majority (90%) are reported in the prepubertal or under-30-year age group, in contrast to the adult type, which is more common in the fifth decade. On histopathological examination, juvenile GCTs are distinct from the adult type of GCT, and have a lower risk for late recurrences than the latter.
