Spatiotemporal Modeling of Aedes aegypti Risk: Enhancing Dengue Virus Control through Meteorological and Remote Sensing Data in French Guiana.

French Guiana lacks a dedicated model for developing an early warning system tailored to its entomological contexts. We employed a spatiotemporal modeling approach to predict the risk of Aedes aegypti larvae presence in local households in French Guiana. The model integrated field data on larvae, environmental data obtained from very high-spatial-resolution Pleiades imagery, and meteorological data collected from September 2011 to February 2013 in an urban area of French Guiana. The identified environmental and meteorological factors were used to generate dynamic maps with high spatial and tem

Role of meteorological factors on SARS-CoV-2 infection incidence in Italy and Spain before the vaccination campaign. A multi-city time series study.

Numerous studies have been conducted worldwide to investigate if an association exists between meteorological factors and the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection incidence. Although research studies provide conflicting results, which can be partially explained by different methods used, some clear trends emerge on the role of weather conditions and SARS-CoV-2 infection, especially for temperature and humidity. This study sheds more light on the relationship between meteorological factors and SARS-CoV-2 infection incidence in 23 Italian and 52 Spanish cities.

Effects of temperature fluctuations on spatial-temporal transmission of hand, foot, and mouth disease.

Hand, foot, and mouth disease (HFMD), predominantly occurs among infants and children. Previous studies have shown that suitable, stable temperatures favor HFMD virus reproduction; however, temperature fluctuations also affect virus transmission, and there are, so far, no studies concerning the association between such fluctuations and the incidence of HFMD. The objective of this study was to map the spatial-temporal distribution of HFMD incidence and quantify the long-term effects of temperature fluctuations on HFMD incidence in children. HFMD cases in children under five, from January 2009 t

Meteorological influence on predicting surface SO2 concentration from satellite remote sensing in Shanghai, China.

In this study, we explored the potential applications of the Ozone Monitoring Instrument (OMI) satellite sensor in air pollution research. The OMI planetary boundary layer sulfur dioxide (SO2_PBL) column density and daily average surface SO2 concentration of Shanghai from 2004 to 2012 were analyzed. After several consecutive years of increase, the surface SO2 concentration finally declined in 2007. It was higher in winter than in other seasons. The coefficient between daily average surface SO2 concentration and SO2_PBL was only 0.316. But SO2_PBL was found to be a highly significant predictor

Characteristics of roadside air pollution in Korean metropolitan city (Daegu) over last 5 to 6 years: temporal variations, standard exceedances, and dependence on meteorological conditions.

The present study performed a roadside data analysis to provide baseline data for exploring associations between environmental exposure to four gaseous pollutants and health effects on residents living near roadways. The yearly roadside concentrations of CO and SO2 showed a well-defined decreasing trend, whereas those of NO2 and O3 exhibited the reverse trend. In most cases, the diurnal trends of the roadside concentrations were well-defined for all seasons, plus the daytime concentrations were higher than the nighttime concentrations. In contrast to the other target pollutants, the daytime O3

[Peculiarities of the development and clinical course of myocardial infarction depending on solar activity].

Analysis of 214,908 calls for ambulance demonstrated a significant (p = 0.95) rise in the frequency of acute myocardial infanction (AMI) in men in a year of low solar activity (LSA) and in women during a year with high solar activity (HSA). The increased incidence of sudden death, clinical death, cardiogenic shock, and pulmonary oedema was associated with HSA. The largest number of calls for AMI patients was recorded between 9.00 and 12.00, the lowest from 3.00 to 6.00. The frequency of AMI in the daytime was higher than at night. This difference was also apparent in "astronomic" seasons and h

Investigation of the efficiency of existing air pollution monitoring sites in the state of Kuwait.

The use of mathematical modelling for investigation of the efficiency of existing monitoring sites for the impact of SO(2) emissions from power stations in the state of Kuwait is described. The Industrial Source Complex Short Term (ISCST3) model is utilised to obtain the spatial and temporal variations of SO(2) over residential areas. Statistical comparison between the 50 highest daily measured and predicted SO(2) concentrations at six monitoring sites shows that the model is capable of generating results with accuracy of 60--94%. An important conclusion of this work is that the existing locat

Spatiotemporal clusters of acute respiratory infections associated with socioeconomic, meteorological, and air pollution factors in South Punjab, Pakistan.

BACKGROUND: In Pakistan, acute respiratory infections (ARI) continue to be a major public health problem. However, there is still a lack of scholarly work regarding different environmental and socioeconomic influencing factors and how they interact with respiratory infections. Furthermore, we do not know much about geographic variation in this context. Therefore, our study examines the ecological-level spatial and temporal patterns of acute respiratory infection incidence (ARI) and their geographic relationship with selected socio-economic, meteorological, and air pollution factors in Pakistan
