Maternal Psychological Problems During Pregnancy and Child Externalizing Problems: Moderated Mediation Model with Child Self-regulated Compliance and Polygenic Risk Scores for Aggression.

A potential pathway underlying the association between prenatal exposure to maternal psychological problems and childhood externalizing problems is child self-regulation. This prospective study (N = 687) examined whether self-regulated compliance mediates the relation between maternal affective problems and hostility during pregnancy and childhood externalizing problems, and explored moderation by child polygenic risk scores for aggression and sex. Self-regulated compliance at age 3 was observed in mother-child interactions, and externalizing problems at age 6 were reported by mothers and teac

Integrating psychological and neurobiological considerations regarding the development and maintenance of specific Internet-use disorders: An Interaction of Person-Affect-Cognition-Execution (I-PACE) model.

Within the last two decades, many studies have addressed the clinical phenomenon of Internet-use disorders, with a particular focus on Internet-gaming disorder. Based on previous theoretical considerations and empirical findings, we suggest an Interaction of Person-Affect-Cognition-Execution (I-PACE) model of specific Internet-use disorders. The I-PACE model is a theoretical framework for the processes underlying the development and maintenance of an addictive use of certain Internet applications or sites promoting gaming, gambling, pornography viewing, shopping, or communication. The model is

Editorial Commentary: The Shoulder Instability-Return to Sports After Injury Scale Is More Than Just a Psychological Readiness Tool-It Is a Potential Predictive Model for Outcomes and Recurrence.

The Shoulder Instability-Return to Sports After Injury (SIRSI) scale is a useful psychological readiness tool to determine whether athletes are prepared to return to sport. Although questions remain on the optimal timing of survey administration based on the type of procedure (i.e., arthroscopic Bankart repair vs Latarjet procedure) and external factors contributing to psychological readiness, its current use begs the question of what other applications may be appropriate. The SIRSI scale has recently been able to effectively predict patient-reported and clinical outcomes, such as postoperativ

When fate hands you lemons: A moderated moderation model of bullying victimization and psychological distress among Chinese adolescents during floods and the COVID-19 pandemic.

BACKGROUND: Bullying is a major problem worldwide and has numerous detrimental effects on the mental health of victims. The link between bullying and psychological distress in adolescents is well known. However, few studies have analyzed the impact of combined interpersonal, peer, and cultural factors on psychological distress using a social-ecological system framework in Eastern countries. Negotiable fate is a cultural belief common in Eastern societies that suggests that people can negotiate with fate for more control by exercising personal agency within the limits of what fate has determine

A generalized additive model to disentangle age and diagnosis-specific cohort effects in psychological and behavioral outcomes in people living with HIV: the French cross-sectional ANRS-VESPA2 survey.

BACKGROUND: Unlike their younger counterparts, some of today's older HIV patients were diagnosed before the advent of highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART). The psychosocial and behavioral outcomes of people living with HIV (PLWH) have been widely studied, and associated factors are well known. However, their evolution both in terms of age and diagnosis-specific cohort effects is not well understood. METHODS: Data from the ANRS-VESPA2 cross-sectional survey, representative of French PLWH, were used to investigate whether psychosocial and behavioral outcomes such as quality of life, nee
