BACKGROUND: Intestinal transplantation (IT) remains the only treatment modality for patients with irreversible intestinal failure who cannot be maintained on chronic parenteral nutrition. OBJECTIVE: To compare a new "guide for borderline orthodontic need" (GBON) with the "aesthetic component" (AC) of the IOTN in assessing borderline cases (dental health component DHC 3), and to compare reliability and opinions of orthodontists on the use of each index.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: Cross-sectional population descriptive study. Ninety-four qualified orthodontists assessed 30 borderline malocclusions according to the GBON and AC indices and completed a questionnaire.
RESULTS: Kappa analysis showed GBON and AC to have similar intra-examiner reliability (K = 0.64 and 0.60 ,respectively)

BACKGROUND: The experiences of informal workers are often characterized by homelessness, social isolation, lack of access to health care, mental illness, and substance use. The aim of this study is to conduct an assessment of the health status and needs of informal workers at truck stops.
METHODS: This study took place at multiple Texas truck stops in 2017, where 25 informal male workers participated in a semi-structured interview and demographic survey. Recorded interviews were transcribed and coded, and a thematic analysis was conducted.

Abortion is an essential medical service; however, the lack of standardised protocols and follow-up can cause unintended harm. We present four cases of post-abortion complications presenting to a Sydney tertiary hospital which could have been avoided by appropriate ultrasound prior to abortion and peri-abortion care. While social progress has led to significant reforms in abortion law, clinical guidelines must also be updated and consistently applied to ensure safety of this practice.

Genetic professionals seek to tailor their counseling to meet the background, needs, and expectations (BNE) of their clients. We present the development of a new instrument, the BNE Scale, designed to assess BNE in genetic counseling clients. The initial items for the scale were created based on a review of the literature and clinical experience. The draft scale was piloted tested with 10 subjects, using cognitive interviewing techniques.
