Granulosa cell tumor (GCT) of the adult type is a rare and slow-growing neoplasm in the testis. This tumor may be associated with endocrine manifestations and resemble classic GCT of the ovary morphologically. It has a potential for distant metastasis or recurrence late in the clinical course. We report a case of granulose cell tumor of the testis, adult type.

Thymic tumors are classified as epithelial neoplasm, thymic carcinoids, and thymic carcinoma. Differentiation between benignity and malignancy of thymic epithelial tumors is determined on the basis of local tissue invasion. Surgery is the treatment of choice for locally invasive disease without signs of metastasis. A 76 year old man presented with an asymptomatic, very big left scrotal mass that was found to be a leiomyosarcoma of the spermatic cord. It was treated by radical orchiectomy with ligation of the spermatic cord at the internal inguinal ring. Convalescence was uneventful. 6 months postoperatively there was no evidence of local recurrence of the neoplasm or distant metastasis.

The authors report a case of malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumor arising in an adrenal ganglioneuroma in an adult. This is the first such case occurring in the absence of a history of childhood neuroblastoma treated with radiation, and provides evidence that such a transformation can occur spontaneously. The neoplasm demonstrated a highly malignant biologic behavior with rapid growth, local recurrence, and metastasis.

We have described a case of multiple metastases in the hypopharynx found at autopsy in a 43-year-old woman with carcinoma of the breast. No symptoms related to the hypopharyngeal lesions were recorded. A metastasis, although rare, should be included in the differential diagnosis of a hypopharyngeal lesion since it may clinically mimic a benign neoplasm or primary carcinoma.

BACKGROUND: Malignant epithelioid neoplasm with ACTB-GLI1 fusion are considered different from the more common pericytic lesions, such myopericytoma, because they have a spectrum of different genetic abnormalities. A study of 15 cases of carcinoid tumor of the thymus, diagnosed and treated at the Mayo Clinic, revealed histopathologic features of the neoplasm that might cause it to be confused with other mediastinal tumors, both primary and secondary. Mesenchymal neoplasm is rare in renal pelvic region. Aggressive angiomyxomas are the neoplasms seen predominantly in female genital region. These tumors are locally aggressive with rare cases presenting with metastasis. Its occurrence in renal pelvis is extremely rare with only five cases reported in the literature. The present case is the sixth case reported in a 15-year-old girl who presented to the surgery department as a case of horseshoe kidney. The mass was excised and a diagnosis of aggressive angiomyxoma was rendered.

Lymphangiography can be of assistance in pre-treatment staging and thereby influence management of patients with ovarian cancer. The distribution of lymph node metastases was related to the histologic type of ovarian neoplasm. Tumors of germ cell origin more frequently spread to para-aortic lymph nodes, while epithelial neoplasms of the ovary metastasized to the pelvic and para-aortic lymph nodes, apparently in continuity. In this series, lymph node metastasis from ovarian cancer was seldom associated with ascites.

Two cases of small cell tumor of the uterine cervix are reported in which electron microscopic studies indicated that the tumor cells were of neural crest origin. Both tumors behaved aggressively, and metastatic involvement of pancreas was demonstrated in one patient, while the second patient developed liver metastasis. The need to distinguish these neoplasms from squamous cell carcinoma of the cervix is stressed. The tumors are compared with small cell neuroepithelial neoplasms previously reported as adult neuroblastomas.

The present study shows that neurogenin 3 directed Cre deletion of Tsc1 gene induces the development of pancreatic acinar carcinoma. Dedifferentiated endometrial cancer (DEC) is microscopically characterized by the presence of high-grade areas emerging from low-grade tumour.
