OBJECTIVE: To explore the origin and etiopathogenesis of antrochoanal polyp (ACP) based on the clinical data.
METHODS: Twenty-six patients with ACP were included in the study. All the ACP patients were documented by preoperative endoscopy and computer tomographic (CT) scans. All patients were treated under endonasal endoscopic surgery. The relationship between polyp in middle meatus and lesions in the antrum was observed during the surgery. Following surgical removal, the polyps and lesions in the antrum were studied under macroscopy and microscopy.
RESULTS: Among 26 cases with ACP, 17 cases

Postmeningitis subdural empyema is rare in infants. It can have a severe clinical course with possible serious long-term consequences and 10% mortality. Diagnosis is often difficult. Postmeningitis subdural empyema must be discussed in cases of atypical progression of well-treated meningitis. We report the case of an 18-month-old infant presenting subdural empyema with an insidious course following Neisseria meningitidis group C meningitis.

Primary ciliary dyskinesia is a rare etiology of sterility in man (prevalence between 1/6000 and 1/40000). Kartagener's syndrome is an autosomal recessive disorder, characterized by total or partial dysfunction of the ciliary or flagellated cells. This syndrome associates situs inversus, sinusitis, bronchiectasis and occasionally sterility in males. We report a case of immotile cilia syndrome with male infertility and compare the data with four other couples reported in the literature (two couples in Germany, two in the United States). The difficulty is to select an alive sperm cell for ICSI.

OBJECTIVE: To observe the long-term curative effect of endoscopic sinus surgery(ESS).
METHOD: 165 cases (276 sides) of chronic sinusitis and nasal polyps were treated with ESS, and following up survey 1 year post-operatively.
RESULT: It was found that 107 cases were cured (64.8%), 43 cases achieved symptomatic relief (26.1%), 15 cases remained failure (9.1%), and the effective rate was 90.9%, mainly operative complication was adhesion of nasal cavity.
