BACKGROUND: Optical coherence tomography (OCT)-obtained retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) thickness measurements allow for qualitative and quantitative assessment of RNFL thinning in glaucoma. Errors in data acquisition or in software analysis may result in artifacts and erroneous RNFL thickness measurements that may lead to an inaccurate clinical interpretation.

PURPOSE: To test a model of retinal nerve fiber bundle trajectories that predicts the arcuate-shaped patterns seen on optical coherence tomography (OCT) retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) probability/deviation maps (p-maps) in glaucomatous eyes.
METHODS: Thirty-one glaucomatous eyes from a database of 250 eyes had clear arcuate-shaped patterns on RNFL p-maps derived from an OCT cube scan. The borders of the arcuate patterns were extracted from the RNFL p-maps. Next, the trajectories from an arcuate model were compared against these borders via a normalized root-mean-square difference analysis.

OBJECTIVE: To detect retinal nerve fiber layer thickness differences of ambylopic and fellow eyes and ambylopic and control eyes.
METHODS: The study comprised a total of 152 eyes recruited from Erzurum Region Training and Research Hospital, Turkey, between January 2018 and May 2018. Anisometropic amblyopia was the only cause of disability (visual acuity ≤ 6/12 and a difference in best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) between the two eyes of 0.20 logMAR (2 lines on an acuity chart) in amblyopic eyes (n, 74) whereas normal eyes had a best-corrected visual acuity of 6/6 and no morbidities (n, 78).

In this research work we demonstrated negative axicon optical fiber tip filled with Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) as a sensor platform for volatile organic gases detection at room temperature. The response of the sensor was measured with various Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) such as Chloroform, Hexane, Isopropanol, Acetone, Toluene and Methanol in the concentration ranging from 5 to 200 ppm. Optic neuritis (ON) causes axonal loss as reflected by thinning of retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) and can be tracked by optical coherence tomography (OCT) about 6 months after ON onset, when swelling of optic nerve head (ONH) has vanished. BACKGROUND: Several studies with optical coherence tomography (OCT) have demonstrated thinning of the retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) in patients with optic neuritis and multiple sclerosis.
