[Dependence of the operation stress degree from the kind of operative intervention for an acute cholecystitis in the patients with high operative-anesthesiological risk].

The results of comparison between the operation stress degree in various kinds of surgical interventions, performed for an acute cholecystitis, using determination of cortizol, prolactin and glucose content before the operation, intraoperatively and postoperatively in 50 patients, are adduced. There was established, that the largest (in 5.3 times) and the most durable (more than 24 hours) intr erative raising of the cortizol level in the blood serum was noted in patients, to whom open cholecystectomy (OCH) was done, and the minimal (in 2.2 times) and the least durable (up to 1 hour)--while per

Relationship between preoperative inflammatory status and survival in patients undergoing curative surgery for colorectal cancer.

INTRODUCTION: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a leading cause of cancer-related morbidity and mortality worldwide. While TNM staging remains the cornerstone for prognostic stratification, growing evidence highlights the role of systemic inflammation and nutritional status in influencing oncologic outcomes. This study aimed to evaluate the prognostic significance of preoperative immunonutritional indices in patients undergoing curative resection for stage I-III CRC. METHODS: This retrospective cohort study included 616 patients treated between January 2013 and December 2021 at a single tertiary cen

Precision diagnosis of preoperative infection in urolithiasis: integrating targeted next-generation sequencing for enhanced accuracy-a multicenter cohort study.

BACKGROUND: Preoperative infection in urolithiasis patients poses significant risks for surgical complications. Traditional urine culture methods have limitations in detection speed and accuracy, necessitating more precise and rapid diagnostic approaches for preoperative infection assessment. METHODS: This multicenter cohort study evaluated urolithiasis patients with suspected preoperative infections (discovery cohort: n = 114; validation cohort: n = 64), comparing the diagnostic performance of traditional urine culture, metagenomic next-generation sequencing (mNGS), and targeted next-generati

Preoperative evaluation of pleural adhesion in patients with lung tumors using four-dimensional computed tomography performed during natural breathing.

The presence of pleural adhesions increases blood loss, occurrence of pulmonary fistulation due to lung injury, and operative time and may complicate thoracoscopic surgery. Recently, it has been reported that four-dimensional computed tomography (4D-CT) synchronized with breathing predicts pleural adhesion. These studies have been performed by asking the patients to maintain a constant respiratory rhythm at the time of scanning. However, many patients face difficulty in doing so, particularly elderly individuals and patients with respiratory dysfunction. We examined the utility of 4D-CT perfor

Tumor budding in preoperative breast biopsies predicts sentinel lymph node metastasis.

Sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) is a pivotal technique employed to assess the necessity for axillary lymph node dissection (ALND), evaluated during the preoperative phase through clinical and radiological findings. The preoperative identification of sentinel lymph node metastasis has gained paramount importance in the surgical management of breast cancer. Tumor budding (TB) has emerged as a significant prognostic marker across various cancers, including breast cancer, where it is instrumental in detecting lymph node metastasis. This study aims to investigate the role of tumor budding in pred

Effect of Preoperative Inflammatory Diet on Clinical and Oncologic Outcomes Following Colorectal Cancer Surgery.

Objectives: The dietary inflammatory index (DII), a validated tool for assessing the inflammatory potential of diet, has been widely identified as a significant risk factor for colorectal cancer (CRC). However, its role as a prognostic factor for CRC remains unexplored. This study examined the impact of preoperative dietary inflammation on clinical and oncologic outcomes following CRC surgery. Methods: The study population consisted of 126 patients who had surgical procedures for CRC and completed a food frequency questionnaire (FFQ) preoperatively between January 2018 and June 2020. Results:
