Prognosis describes the trajectory and long-term outcome of a condition. Most studies indicate a better prognosis in idiopathic generalized epilepsy (IGE) in comparison with other epilepsy syndromes. We evaluated the risk of developing clinically definite multiple sclerosis (CDMS) after acute isolated optic neuritis in 102 patients in a follow-up study (duration 6.5 +/- 2.0 years). The probability of CDMS was 13% after 2 years, 30% after 4 years, 38% after 6 years, and 49% after 8 and 10 years. CDMS occurred in 42 (59%) of 71 patients with brain lesions detected with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). No patient with normal MRI exam developed the disease. The kinetic model of continuous gravitation plasmapheresis on preoperative preparation of patients with thyrotoxicosis has been developed and fried on 41 patients who had failed thyrostatic drugs or were intolerant to them. The model takes into account the process of plasma mixing. The prognostic value of the model in all cases exceeded 0.83; being in sonne cases > 0.09. The prognostic accuracy of the model was higher if the plasma volume and thyroid hormones concentration were considered.

The view of Tourette syndrome as a lifelong disorder, once held as a certainty, has changed considerably in the past two decades. It is now known that in the majority of cases, tics will ebb in severity and will no longer be problematic in the adult years. This discovery, however, has been accompanied by the realization that Tourette syndrome is a far more complex disorder than was originally discerned and that it has many unanswered questions.
