Inspired by the mussel, tannic acid (TA) was modified onto the surface of self-made cellulose nanofibrils (CNFs) to prepare TA@CNFs, which was introduced into borax crosslinked polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) to prepare PTC double-network hydrogel with self-healing properties. Through the comparative observation of TEM images and infrared spectra before and after tannic acid modification, the formation of TA@CNFs was proved. The introduction of TA@CNFs greatly increases the fracture stress of PTC hydrogel, which is more than 10 times higher than that of PVA hydrogel without TA@CNFs, and has high fract

This study aimed to evaluate the effects of artificial saliva contamination on a glass ionomer cement (GIC), a resin-modified GIC (RMGIC), and a composite resin (CR) that was used with two different etching adhesive systems. Three surface conditions were created on bovine teeth using artificial saliva: control (group I), mild saliva contamination (group II), and severe saliva contamination (group III). The microtensile bond strength (μTBS) of CR with dentin was significantly lower in group III than in group I. However, the μTBS of GIC and RMGIC with both enamel and dentin showed no significant

Clinical research has shown that resin dentin adhesive materials often fail prematurely despite encouraging laboratory-derived data. Current adhesives are reported to react with dentin surfaces by chemical and/or micro-mechanical mechanisms. The ionic bonding to calcium and the covalent coupling to collagen are representative chemical strategies employed today. Recent findings suggest that the mechanical interlocking of resins into open dentinal tubules may play an even more important role with present adhesive systems. Dentin surfaces, such as cervical abrasions, undergo changes in the oral c
