The perinephric space is the middle compartment of the retroperitoneum, containing the kidneys and adrenal glands. We experienced a case of bronchogenic cyst located on the left lower pleural space extending into the retroperitoneum in a 33-year-old man with left chest pain. Preoperative imaging studies and operative findings showed a broad-based cystic mass on the left lower posterior pleura and diaphragmatic pleura extending into the retroperitoneal region across the diaphragm. Histologic studies proved this mass to be a bronchogenic cyst.

A 44-year-old female patient presented to us with fever and increased abdominal girth. A CT scan showed a very large retroperitoneal mass displacing the right kidney. At operation three enormous retroperitoneal tumours displacing the ascending colon and the right kidney and compressing the inferior vena cava were removed. Histopathological examination revealed a myxoid retroperitoneal liposarcoma.

METHODS/RESULTS: A 56-year-old man consulted for abdominal pain and previous symptoms of intermittent claudication. A CT scan disclosed a retroperitoneal mass, for which reason the patient was submitted to surgery. Analysis of the biopsy specimen demonstrated retroperitoneal fibrosis.
