Round ligament varicosities (RLV) are a very rare cause of an inguinal mass, which is very similar to an inguinal hernia, and should be taken seriously by women, especially in mid-pregnancy. Prophylactic salpingectomy at the time of hysterectomy has been recommended for women at average risk for ovarian cancer. Vaginal hysterectomy is considered the preferred approach to a benign hysterectomy, and adnexectomy should not be considered a contraindication to this approach. Round ligament varicosities are rare, and the mass mimics an inguinal hernia. Round ligament varicosities should be considered in the differential diagnosis of a groin swelling in a female, especially during pregnancy. The diagnosis of round ligament varicosities can be established on grayscale and color Doppler ultrasonography. We report two cases of round ligament varicosities in a 33-year-old non pregnant woman and a 28-year-old pregnant woman, and these patients were diagnosed using ultrasonography. We also reviewed the literature on round ligament varicosities including the present cases.

In the experiment on 31 dogs there was shown a significant increase of 5-fluorouracil concentrations in the pancreas and parapancreatic tissues with regional methods of its administration in the fat of the round ligament of the liver. A more prolonged preservation of the drug concentrations at the therapeutic level in the blood was observed. The most effective method of the cytostatic therapy is the regional lymphotropic method.

Palliation of obstructive jaundice in patients with hilar cancer can be achieved either by surgical bypass or by intubation and drainage. A simple and effective technique is presented which gives excellent palliation without the need for tubes or stents: left intrahepatic cholangio-enteric anastomosis, using the duct of segment III (i.e. the inferolateral segment of the left liver). The use of laparoscopy in diagnosis, investigation, and therapy is very important. The paper describes the laparoscopic technique of correction of a retroflexed uterus.
