Exploring emotional dynamics: Word count effects in Facebook posts by sports shoe brands.

This study examines the impact of word count in Facebook posts on user engagement and emotional responses, focusing on sports shoe brands. It addresses a research gap concerning the effects of post length on various emotional aspects and engagement metrics within social media marketing. Data were collected from January 1, 2024, to January 30, 2024, covering posts from January 2013 to December 2023 on official Facebook pages of several sports shoe brands. After cleaning an initial 723 posts, 636 were analyzed using statistical methods and Python libraries. Eight emotional aspects-fear, anger, s

Evaluating combustion kinetics and quantifying fuel-N conversion tendency of shoe manufacturing waste.

Combustion is an effective and cost-efficient thermochemical conversion method for solid waste, showing promise for the resource utilization of shoe manufacturing waste (SMW). However, SMW is generally composed of different components, which can lead to unstable combustion and excessive pollutant emissions, especially NOx. To date, combustion characteristics, reaction mechanism and fuel nitrogen (fuel-N) conversion of different SMW components remain unclear. In this work, the combustion behavior of typical SMW components combustion was investigated using Thermogravimetric coupled with Fourier

Evaluation of in-shoe plantar pressure and shear during walking for diabetic foot ulcer prevention.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate reliability and changes of in-shoe plantar pressure and shear during walking at three cadences with two insole designs. This was a precursor to the investigation of plantar loading in people with diabetes for potential foot ulcer prevention. METHOD: A sensorised insole system, capable of measuring plantar pressure and shear at the heel, fifth metatarsal head (5MH), first metatarsal head (1MH) and hallux, was tested with ten healthy participants during level walking. Reliability was evaluated, using intra-class correlation coefficient (ICC), while varying the cadences

Assessment of in-shoe pressure: Development of a clinical user guide based on a DELPHI-derived consensus.

BACKGROUND: The F-Scan (F-Scan System by Tekscan, Boston, USA) is an in-shoe pressure measurement device used to provide dynamic pressure, force and timing information to guide appropriate offloading of plantar foot ulcers. Despite the clinical utility of an in-shoe pressure measuring device there are some limitations in the validity and reliability of the output of the F-Scan. The aim of this study was to develop a consensus-based guideline following information provided by experienced clinicians, synthesis of research evidence and manufacturer's guidelines on the most appropriate use and int

Persistence of blood (DNA/RNA) on shoe soles under varying casework related conditions.

Blunt force traumas by footwear can result in severe and even fatal head and upper body injuries. Oftentimes, footwear impressions are only partially available and evidential value is limited. DNA evidence on shoe soles could provide crucial evidence helping to solve crimes by linking target DNA to the activity of interest. Little is known about the persistence and detectability of biological material post such offenses and the interplay of factors affecting the analytical success. In this study, we assessed the persistence of blood on shoe soles under varying parameters such as blood location

A review of synthetic playing surfaces, the shoe-surface interface, and lower extremity injuries in athletes.

The evolution of synthetic playing surfaces began in the 1960s and has had an impact on field use, shoe-surface dynamics, and the incidence of sports-related injuries. Modern third-generation turfs are being installed in recreational facilities and professional stadiums worldwide. Currently, > two-thirds of National Football League teams, > 100 National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I football teams, and > 1000 high schools in the United States have installed synthetic playing surfaces. Those in favor of such playing surfaces note their unique combination of versatility and durabili

The effects of shoe traction and obstacle height on lower extremity coordination dynamics during walking.

This study aims to investigate the effects of shoe traction and obstacle height on lower extremity relative phase dynamics (analysis of intralimb coordination) during walking to better understand the mechanisms employed to avoid slippage following obstacle clearance. Ten participants walked at a self-selected pace during eight conditions: four obstacle heights (0%, 10%, 20%, and 40% of limb length) while wearing two pairs of shoes (low and high traction). A coordination analysis was used and phasing relationships between lower extremity segments were examined. The results demonstrated that sig…

Acute systematic and variable postural adaptations induced by an orthopaedic shoe lift in control subjects.

A small leg length inequality, either true or functional, can be implicated in the pathogenesis of numerous spinal disorders. The correction of a leg length inequality with the goal of treating a spinal pathology is often achieved with the use of a shoe lift. Little research has focused on the impact of this correction on the three-dimensional (3D) postural organisation. The goal of this study is to quantify in control subjects the 3D postural changes to the pelvis, trunk, scapular belt and head, induced by a shoe lift. The postural geometry of 20 female subjects (X = 22, sigma = 1.2) was eval

In-shoe force measurements from locomotion in simulated zero gravity during parabolic flight.

INTRODUCTION:: No effective countermeasure for space-induced bone loss has yet been identified. It has been hypothesized that an effective exercise regimen would elicit loads on the lower extremity which resemble those encountered on Earth. Although a treadmill has been used on shuttle flights, the loads to which the lower extremity was exposed have not yet been quantified. It is believed that these loads are much less than the loads experienced in 1G. The purpose of this study was to determine the magnitude of lower extremity loading during tethered treadmill exercise in a 0G environment. MET

Basketball shoe height and the maximal muscular resistance to applied ankle inversion and eversion moments.

To determine if the height of a basketball shoe alters the maximal inversion and eversion moment that can be actively resisted by the ankle in the frontal plane, we tested 20 healthy, young adult men with no recent ankle injuries. Subjects underwent unipedal functional ankle strength testing under weightbearing conditions at 0 degrees, 16 degrees, and 32 degrees of ankle plantar flexion using a specially designed testing apparatus. Testing was performed with the subject wearing either a low- or a three quarter-top basketball shoe. Shoe height did not significantly affect an individual's abilit

Walk a mile in my old shoes: an intervention study on age simulation suit training for correctional staff.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Correctional populations are ageing rapidly, yet correctional staff often lack the knowledge and attitudinal competencies required to address ageing-related needs. While simulation technologies, such as simulation suits, have demonstrated improvements in cognitive and affective learning outcomes within educational and clinical healthcare settings, their application in correctional training remains unexplored. This study examined the feasibility and exploratory outcomes of a training program incorporating ageing simulation into correctional staff training. RESEARCH D

Deformation mechanisms in marathon running shoes elucidated by X-ray micro-computed tomography and digital volume correlation analysis.

The design of high-performance marathon running shoes plays a critical role in optimizing energy return, reducing fatigue, and enhancing comfort for elite athletes. A comprehensive understanding of the internal deformation mechanisms within these complex, multi-material structures is essential for developing new strategies to optimize their performance under realistic loading conditions. In this study, we have integrated x-ray micro-computed tomography (XCT) and digital volume correlation (DVC) to investigate the internal mechanics of a marathon shoe's stiffening element, a critical component …

Measuring Foot Pressure in Pointe Shoes of Ballet Dancers Using a Modified Foot Pressure Sensor: A Brief Study.

Introduction: The mechanism of foot injury in ballet dancers can be understood by measuring the forces exerted on the foot in pointe shoes. In this study, we aimed to reveal the vertical forces applied to the toes in a pointe shoe during ballet movements in a time series using a modified foot pressure sensor. Methods: Three dancers wore their pointe shoes equipped with sensors to replace their usual toe pads. They performed 2 tasks: (1) holding a pointe posture on the right leg for 5 seconds and (2) jumping 5 times on the right leg while on pointe, on a force platform. Their movements were cap…
